How do Indian citizens apply for a Hungary visa?

Who handles applications in India

Nationals of India can enter Hungary for a short stay only with a valid C (Schengen) visa. C visa appointments are arranged directly with VFS Global; the Embassy of Hungary in New Delhi covers north/east India and the Consulate General of Hungary in Mumbai covers Maharashtra, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Gujarat, Goa, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Puducherry, Telangana, Daman and Diu, Dadra and Nagar Haveli. D (long-term) visa appointments are requested by email to the Embassy and the application is then lodged at the VFS office in New Delhi; the Embassy states it will not issue appointments for employment D visa applications for an indefinite period because India is not on the Annex 1 list of Government Decree 450/2024.

  • Employment certificate referring to the permission granted for leave
  • Educational institution enrollment certificate referring to leave, if travel is during the academic year
  • Pension slip of the last three months (if retired)

Business trip

  • Letter of invitation from the Hungarian business partner (original)
  • Evidence of the actual business relations in Hungary by a letter of reference from the Hungarian/Indian Company
