## Overview

Nationals of India can enter Hungary for a short stay only with a valid C (Schengen) visa. C visa appointments are arranged directly with VFS Global; the Embassy of Hungary in New Delhi covers north/east India and the Consulate General of Hungary in Mumbai covers Maharashtra, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Gujarat, Goa, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Puducherry, Telangana, Daman and Diu, Dadra and Nagar Haveli. D (long-term) visa appointments are requested by email to the Embassy and the application is then lodged at the VFS office in New Delhi; the Embassy states it will not issue appointments for employment D visa applications for an indefinite period because India is not on the Annex 1 list of Government Decree 450/2024.

## Visa fees

- **Short term visa - adult:** INR 9600 — Fees are not refundable
- **Short term visa - child between 6-12 years:** INR 4800
- **Short term visa - child below 6 years:** INR 0 — Fee also waived for students/pupils on study trips, researchers, NGO representatives aged 25 or less, and family members of EU citizens
- **Long term (D) visa:** Rs.11740 (EUR 123) — No visa fee waiver except for holders of diplomatic and service passports; paid at the VFS office only by card at the appointment (embassy)

**Service fee:** INR 2133/- with biometrics and INR 1600/- without biometrics (inclusive of CGST 9% and SGST 9%, per application over and above the visa fee); INR 1920/- for biometrics for D visa applications. Optional: Courier 675, SMS 335, Form Filling 2100, Premium Lounge 3000.

## Documents required

### All applicants

- Visa application form filled online, downloaded and printed (e-mail ID in column 17)
- Two recent passport size photographs in colour with white background (3.5cm by 4.5cm)
- Front and back side photocopy of the current passport
- Handwritten passports and passports with manual corrections on the biographical data page are not accepted
- Salary slip of the last three months from the employer, duly stamped and signed
- Income tax return acknowledgment for the last two assessment years
- Bank account statement for the last three months duly signed and stamped by the bank
- Certificate of registration in case of self-employed
- Airplane ticket booking
- Travel medical insurance (each applicant including children) from the list of Schengen-approved Indian insurance companies
- If submitted/collected by a third person: authorization duly signed by the applicant and certified by public notary
- Documents marked (*) on the checklist must be enclosed in original

### Tourists

- Certificate of the travel agency of the prepaid program, or for an individual itinerary the reservation of accommodation (deposit paid or cancellation fee payable)
- Employment certificate referring to the permission granted for leave
- Educational institution enrollment certificate referring to leave, if travel is during the academic year
- Pension slip of the last three months (if retired)

### Business trip

- Employment certificate duly signed and stamped by the business entity (original)
- Letter of invitation from the Hungarian business partner (original)
- Evidence of the actual business relations in Hungary by a letter of reference from the Hungarian/Indian Company
- Prearranged accommodation (reservation with deposit or cancellation fee)

### Airport transit

- Documents in relation to the onward journey to the final destination
- Information enabling an assessment of your intention not to enter Hungary or other Schengen States
- Note: VFS states airport transit visas are needed by nationals of Bangladesh and Sri Lanka at Budapest airport

### Long term (D) visa

- Form 'Application for Residence Permit' with the relevant appendix (employment, family reunification, EU Blue Card, research, seasonal work, intra-corporate transfer) from oif.gov.hu/forms
- Category checklist (Family reunification, Study, Seasonal Employment, Hungarian Card etc.) linked on VFS
- Extra set of photocopies of all documents including all pages of the passport
- Biometric data (fingerprints) collected at submission; applicant must submit in person

## Photo specifications

- **Size:** 3.5cm by 4.5cm (sized as for passports, 35-40 mm wide)
- **Background:** White
- No more than six months old
- In colour; sharp, clear and of good quality
- Full-face, showing the entire head and top of the shoulders, taken directly from the front
- No head-dress except for religious reasons (no shadow over the face)
- Glasses permitted if eyes are clearly visible with no reflection

## Travel medical insurance

Each applicant (including children) must have a travel medical insurance; travel insurance is mandatory for all Schengen countries. Only companies on the approved list of Indian travel insurance companies for the Schengen visa procedure (published by the Embassy) are accepted.
