Who handles applications in India

The Austrian Embassy New Delhi has outsourced the visa application and return of passports to VFS Global; all applications are assessed by the Embassy only. Book an appointment via VFS for visas up to 6 months and lodge the application at the VFS application centre. Short-stay applications can be submitted no earlier than 6 months and at least 15 days (VFS: 15 working days) before travel. Residence permits (over 6 months), job seeker visas and work-programme visas are applied for in person at the Embassy (contact NEW-DELHI-KA@bmeia.gv.at).

  • Original bank statements of the last three (3) months, stamped and signed by the bank (mandatory per VFS); ITR (with barcode) for last 2 years
  • Minors: original notarized NOC from the other parent (if accompanied by one parent) or both parents/legal guardians (if travelling alone), plus copies of parents' passports or ID
  • Copy of present passport (data pages, last page, pages with previous visas/travel) and copies of previous Schengen visas
  • Contact details: operational email address, mobile number and business card
  • Biometrics (ten fingerprints and photograph) collected in person unless collected within the last 59 months; children under 12 exempt from fingerprints
