Important notes

• Every Nepali-language document MUST be accompanied by a notary-certified English translation — embassies will reject untranslated originals. Use a Nepal Bar Council–registered translator and have each translation notarised by a Notary Public.
• Income proof for Türkiye sticker visas: ANY ONE of the four Nepal-side income bundles is sufficient (Business OR Salary OR Pension OR Rental) — pick the bundle matching your active income source. e-Visa applicants with supporting Schengen / UK / Ireland / US visa do NOT need income documentation — the supporting visa is itself the trip-validity proof.
• TWO PATHWAYS based on supporting-visa status. Pick the right one:
• (A) E-VISA via evisa.gov.tr — eligible if you hold any of: valid Schengen Type C multi-entry visa, valid Schengen residence permit, valid UK Standard Visitor Visa, valid Ireland visa, valid US visa or US Green Card. e-Visa is fastest (24–48 hour decision), cheapest (USD 51.50), and fully online. Carry the supporting visa alongside the e-Visa printout at port of entry — Turkish Border Police verify both.
• (B) VFS / EMBASSY STICKER VISA — required if you do NOT hold a supporting Schengen/UK/IE/US visa. Apply at VFS Türkiye Kathmandu OR Embassy Kathmandu (Bansbari Road). Processing 7–15 working days, fee USD 60–80.
• Türkiye is NOT in the EU, NOT in the Schengen Area — it operates an independent visa system. EU candidate country since 1999 with frozen accession negotiations.
• Türkiye HAS its own Embassy in Kathmandu (since 2014, on Bansbari Road, Maharajgunj) — one of the few non-South-Asian missions in Nepal alongside Israel, US, UK, China, India, EU, Russia, Australia.
• Biometrics are NOT required for Turkish e-Visa or sticker visa for short-stay tourist / business categories. Long-stay residence permit applications inside Türkiye (at DGMM after arrival) require biometrics.
• Travel medical insurance is recommended for Türkiye visits but NOT mandatory for e-Visa or short-stay sticker. For long-stay residence permits, comprehensive Turkish health insurance (or SGK enrollment after work-permit issuance) is required.
• Turkish Airlines (THY) operates 4 weekly direct flights Kathmandu <-> Istanbul (KTM <-> IST) — the only direct Nepal–Türkiye route. Major draw for Nepali tourists; KTM-IST is a popular routing for Schengen onward connections.
• Türkiye uses TRY (Turkish Lira) — 1 USD ≈ 35 TRY (2026). Inflation has been high; many tourist services quoted in USD or EUR.
• Long-stay (>90 days) for tourism, work, study, or family requires post-arrival residence permit at DGMM provincial office (İl Göç İdaresi Müdürlüğü) — apply within first 90 days of stay. Türkiye İkamet İzni (residence permit) reforms 2022 streamlined the process for digital nomads + property owners.
• Property purchase ≥ USD 400,000 (raised from USD 250,000 in 2022) -> eligibility for Turkish citizenship after 3 years of holding the property. Popular among Nepali entrepreneurs seeking second-passport options. Apply via Türkiye Real Estate Citizenship Portal at apr.com.tr.
• Nepali tourist destinations in Türkiye: Istanbul (Hagia Sophia, Topkapi Palace, Bosphorus, Grand Bazaar), Cappadocia (hot-air balloon, fairy chimneys), Pamukkale (calcium terraces), Antalya (Mediterranean coast), Ephesus (Roman ruins), Trabzon (Black Sea Pontic Alps).
• Common refusal patterns for Nepal sticker visas: weak ties to Nepal, unexplained funds, undisclosed prior Schengen / US / UK refusals, applicants under 30 without dependants. e-Visa applications with valid supporting Schengen / UK / IE / US visa have ~99 % approval rate.
