Greece embassy in Nepal

Mission
Embassy of Greece — New Delhi (consular jurisdiction over Nepal — adjudicates ALL Nepal applications)
Address
EP-29, Chandragupta Marg, Chanakyapuri, New Delhi 110021, India
Phone
+91 11 2688 0700, +91 11 2688 0703
Hours
Mon–Fri 09:00–17:00; consular section by appointment only — Nepal applicants generally do not need to visit the embassy directly (Type C lodged at GVCW Kathmandu; Type D lodged at GVCW New Delhi).
Application centre
GVCW (Global Visa Centre World) Kathmandu — Greek Visa Application Centre for Nepal — 4th Floor, LS Building, 11 Thapathali, Kathmandu 44600, Nepal. Mon–Fri 08:00–12:00 + 13:00–15:00 (online appointment + walk-in accepted). Operations resumed 12 February 2026 after January 2026 closure. Phone: contact via [email protected]. Type C only — Type D applicants must travel to GVCW New Delhi (Vasant Vihar) for biometrics + embassy interview.

Important notes

  • Every Nepali-language document MUST be accompanied by a notary-certified English translation — embassies will reject untranslated originals. Use a Nepal Bar Council–registered translator and have each translation notarised by a Notary Public.
  • Income proof for Greek visas: ANY ONE of the four Nepal-side income bundles is sufficient (Business OR Salary OR Pension OR Rental) — no need to submit all four. Pick the bundle that matches your active income source.
  • Nepali ordinary passport holders MUST apply for a Greek visa BEFORE travel — Nepal is on Schengen Annex I (visa-required nationalities). There is NO visa-on-arrival, NO eTA, and NO visa-waiver agreement.
  • CRITICAL Nepal advantage — Greece is one of the few Schengen states with a Visa Application Centre IN KATHMANDU (GVCW, 4th Floor LS Building, 11 Thapathali). Nepalis can lodge Type C Schengen applications without travelling to New Delhi. Operations resumed 12 February 2026 after a brief January 2026 closure.
  • BUT — Type D long-stay applications still require travel to GVCW New Delhi (Vasant Vihar). The Greek Embassy in New Delhi requires the in-person interview for D-visas; Type D submission is NOT accepted at the Kathmandu centre.
  • Greek Type C visas are Schengen Uniform Visas — valid across all 29 Schengen states on the same 90/180 day-clock. A Greek visa lets you also visit Germany, France, Italy, Romania, Bulgaria, etc.
  • Conversely — a valid + previously-used Schengen multiple-entry visa from any other Schengen state lets Nepalis enter Greece visa-free within the unused balance of the 90/180 budget. No separate Greek Type C needed in that case.
  • Greek Embassy New Delhi adjudicates ALL Nepal-origin Schengen + national applications — GVCW (both Kathmandu and New Delhi) are intake / biometric partners only.
  • Greek Golden Visa pathway: minimum EUR 250,000 real estate (Tier 3 zones — most of Greece outside Athens / Thessaloniki / Mykonos / Santorini), EUR 400,000 (Tier 2 — emerging Athens / Thessaloniki neighbourhoods), or EUR 800,000 (Tier 1 — central Athens / Mykonos / Santorini / islands > 3,100 population). Grants 5-year renewable residence permit; citizenship eligible after 7 years.
  • Greek Digital Nomad Visa (Law 4825/2021): EUR 3,500/month minimum income, +20% for spouse, +15% per child. 1-year visa renewable to 2-year residence permit; 50% income-tax discount for first 7 years if resident.
  • Common Nepali employment pathways: tourism / hospitality (Mykonos / Santorini / Crete / Halkidiki resorts — EUR 700–1,200/month + tips), shipping (Greek shipping companies hire Nepali seafarers — EUR 1,500–4,000/month at sea), agriculture (Crete / Peloponnese seasonal — EUR 600–900/month), construction (Athens / Thessaloniki — EUR 800–1,200/month). Greek Type C "Seafarers" visa is a distinct sub-category specifically for Nepali maritime workers joining Greek-flagged vessels at Piraeus.
  • Schengen post-2024 fee: Greek Type C visa fee EUR 90 (adults, harmonised since 11 June 2024). Children 6–11: EUR 45. Children <6: free. Type D embassy fee EUR 75–180 depending on category. Plus EUR 26 GVCW Kathmandu service fee.
  • Always disclose prior Schengen / EU / UK / US visa refusals — non-disclosure under Article 32(1)(b) of the Schengen Visa Code is grounds for refusal + future-application risk under VIS (Visa Information System).
  • Nepal joined the Hague Apostille Convention on 14 March 2024 — Nepal-issued public documents apostilled by Nepal MoFA on/after that date are accepted by Greek authorities without further consular legalisation.
  • EES (Entry/Exit System) is operational in all Schengen states including Greece since 12 October 2025 — biometric registration on first Schengen entry; replaces passport-stamping.
  • ETIAS launching late 2026 — Nepal is NOT in ETIAS scope (visa-required nationals are exempt). Nepali applicants continue with full Schengen visa applications under VIS, not ETIAS.
