Important notes

  • Every Nepali-language document MUST be accompanied by a notary-certified English translation — embassies will reject untranslated originals. Use a Nepal Bar Council–registered translator and have each translation notarised by a Notary Public.
  • Income proof for Canadian visas: ANY ONE of the four Nepal-side income bundles is sufficient (Business OR Salary OR Pension OR Rental) — pick the bundle matching your active income source. IRCC officers focus on demonstrating settled financial life and intent to return.
  • Nepali ordinary passport holders MUST apply for a Canadian visa — Nepal is NOT eTA-eligible. Visa is mandatory even for short tourist trips and airside transit longer than 48 hours.
  • Default grant on a successful Visitor Visa (TRV / IMM 1442) is multiple-entry, validity until passport expiry or 10 years (whichever comes first), with up to 6-month stays per visit. Single-entry grants are unusual and usually tied to specific event-based travel.
  • Biometrics (fingerprints + photo) are MANDATORY for all first-time Canadian visa applicants aged 14–79 from Nepal. Once collected, biometrics are valid 10 years across all Canadian visa applications — no re-collection needed in that window.
  • Dual intent is permitted: applicants can simultaneously hold a temporary visa application and a permanent residence application (Express Entry / PNP / family sponsorship) without prejudice.
  • Nepal is a designated country for upfront medical exam (UME) for any single stay >6 months, work in healthcare / childcare / education, or where the IRCC officer requests it. Approved Panel Physicians in Kathmandu: Norvic International Hospital, CIWEC Clinic, B&B Hospital — eMedical referral generated by the IRCC portal.
  • Police certificate from Nepal MoFA (and from any country lived 6+ months in last 10 years for permanent residence applications, or as requested for temporary visas) — translated into English and notarised.
  • All non-English / non-French documents MUST be accompanied by a certified English translation done by a Nepal MoFA-recognised translator + notarised.
  • Common refusal patterns for Nepal: weak ties to Nepal (insufficient property / business / family / employment), unexplained funds in bank statement, vague itinerary, undisclosed prior refusals from US / UK / Schengen / Australia, applicants under 30 without dependants or property.
  • Always disclose prior visa refusals in any country in answer to IRCC question 2(b) on Form IMM 5257 — non-disclosure triggers misrepresentation finding under IRPA s.40 and a 5-year ban from entering Canada.
  • Processing times listed by IRCC for Nepal are estimates only; the published "80% of applications processed within X days" tracker at canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/services/application/check-processing-times.html is the source of truth.
  • Super Visa (parent / grandparent of Canadian citizens or PRs): multi-entry valid 10 years with 5-year stays per entry. Requires Canadian sponsor income above LICO threshold (CAD 32,000+ for family of 2 in 2026), CAD 100,000 medical insurance from a Canadian or approved foreign insurer, and the Invitation Letter signed by the sponsor.
  • Working Holiday / IEC (International Experience Canada): NOT available for Nepalis — no bilateral youth mobility arrangement. Pursue Study Permit (IMM 1294) -> Post-Graduation Work Permit (PGWP) instead.
