3. Confirmed return / onward air ticket

   Yatra dummy ticket (NPR 999) acceptable for the e-Visa application. Onward ticket may be inspected by airline check-in staff in Kathmandu.

   Maputo hotels (Polana Serena, Radisson Blu) OR coastal lodge confirmations.

5. Bank statement (last 3 months) showing capacity for trip

   Standard bank letterhead, signed and stamped, in English. No specific NPR threshold — DNM evaluates trip-funding via this single document.

6. Yellow Fever vaccination certificate (if transiting through endemic African country > 12 hours)

   NOT required for direct Nepal -> Mozambique flights (Nepal is not on the WHO endemic list). MANDATORY if transiting Ethiopia / Kenya / South Africa / etc. for > 12 hours. Get vaccinated 10+ days before travel at Teku Hospital or Norvic; certificate valid for life.

Important notes

• Every Nepali-language document MUST be accompanied by a notary-certified English translation — embassies will reject untranslated originals. Use a Nepal Bar Council–registered translator and have each translation notarised by a Notary Public.
• Mozambique visa applications do NOT require the four-bundle Nepal income breakdown — DNM evaluates trip funding via standard bank statement (last 3 months) showing capacity for the trip. This is a deliberately lighter documentary standard than Schengen / UK / US visas.
• Mozambique is NOT in any visa-free regime that includes Nepal. Nepali passport holders need a visa for any visit to Mozambique — but the e-Visa pathway and Visa-on-Arrival at major airports make access very straightforward.
• GOOD NEWS for Nepal: Nepali tourists can choose between (1) e-Visa via evisa.gov.mz (5–10 days, USD 50–100), (2) Visa-on-Arrival at Maputo / Beira / Pemba / Vilanculos / Tete / Inhambane airports (since 2017, USD 50/100), (3) sticker visa at Embassy Delhi. The e-Visa is the simplest path for advance planning; Visa-on-Arrival is the fastest if entering directly via Maputo airport.
• Visa-on-Arrival fees (2026): USD 50 single-entry / USD 100 multiple-entry (cash USD only; no card / no Mozambican meticais accepted at the immigration counter). Carry exact-change USD bills.
• Yellow Fever vaccination is MANDATORY for travellers arriving from yellow-fever endemic countries (most sub-Saharan African countries + parts of South America). Nepal is NOT on the WHO endemic list, so a direct Nepal -> Mozambique flight does NOT trigger the requirement. However, if you transit through any African country (Ethiopia, Kenya, South Africa, etc.) for > 12 hours, the yellow-fever certificate becomes mandatory. Get vaccinated at least 10 days before travel at Teku Hospital or Norvic.
• Malaria prophylaxis (chloroquine, mefloquine, or atovaquone-proguanil) is recommended for all of Mozambique year-round — coastal areas have year-round transmission. Carry mosquito repellent + DEET 30%+.
• Portuguese is the official language; English is widely spoken in tourism areas (Maputo, Bazaruto, Quirimbas) but limited inland. Carry basic Portuguese phrases for the Embassy interview if applying for sticker visa.
• Tourist destinations: Bazaruto Archipelago (UNESCO marine park), Quirimbas Archipelago (luxury islands), Vilanculos (gateway to Bazaruto), Maputo (capital — colonial architecture), Tofo (whale-shark diving), Inhambane (beaches). Most tourists fly Maputo -> domestic to coastal regions.
• Direct flights from Nepal to Mozambique: NONE. Standard routings: Kathmandu -> Doha (Qatar Airways) -> Maputo (4 weekly), OR Kathmandu -> Addis Ababa (Ethiopian Airlines) -> Maputo (daily), OR Kathmandu -> Mumbai -> Johannesburg (South African Airways) -> Maputo.
• Long-stay (>30 days) requires DIRE (Documento de Identificação e Residência para Estrangeiro — Foreign Identification and Residence Document) — applied AFTER arrival on a regular visa, at any DNM provincial office, valid 1–5 years.
• Nepali expat communities in Mozambique are small but growing — primarily in mining (Mozal aluminium smelter, Tete coal basin), construction (Chinese-led projects), and small-business retail. DoFE Nepal does NOT have a dedicated bilateral programme with Mozambique.
