Important notes
- Every Nepali-language document MUST be accompanied by a notary-certified English translation — embassies will reject untranslated originals. Use a Nepal Bar Council–registered translator and have each translation notarised by a Notary Public.
- Nepalis can use e-Visa OR Visa-on-Arrival (VOA) at all approved entry points: 3 international airports (Vientiane Wattay, Luang Prabang, Pakse) + 3 Thai-Lao Friendship Bridges + Boten (China border) + 4 other land borders.
- Passport must have 6+ months validity + 2 blank pages.
- e-Visa: USD 50, single entry, 30 days stay, valid 60 days from issuance.
- VOA: USD 30–50 (Nepalis ≈ USD 40).
- From 1 January 2025: tourist visa extendable TWICE in Laos for 30 + 30 = 60 additional days (total 90 days max).
- Photo: 4 × 6 cm, white background, recent (< 6 months).
- Standard e-Visa processing: 3 working days (sometimes faster, max 5).
- Cash USD must be small denominations at land borders.
