Frequently asked questions

Everything travelers ask before booking a tour, day trip, or adventure activity on Yatra — cancellation, group sizes, weather contingencies, and more.

What kinds of activities can I book on Yatra?

Yatra offers guided tours, city walks, adventure sports (paragliding, bungee, rafting, ziplining), cultural experiences (temple tours, cooking classes, prayer-flag making), day trips, and multi-day excursions across Nepal, India, and Southeast Asia. Over 1,200 experiences are bookable in real time.

Are activity bookings refundable?

Most activities offer free cancellation up to 24 hours before the start time. The specific window is shown on each activity page before you book. Adventure activities like bungee or paragliding may have non-refundable weather-contingent rates that re-schedule rather than refund.

Can I book activities for a group?

Yes. Activity pages let you select the number of adults and children. For groups larger than 10, contact [email protected] or click 'Group quote' on the activity page — most operators offer 10–25% off published rates for groups of 12+.

Are skip-the-line tickets available?

Select attractions offer skip-the-line or priority access tickets — look for the 'Skip the line' badge on the activity card. The benefit is included in the displayed price; you'll receive a separate skip-the-line voucher with your confirmation.

Are the activities suitable for kids and seniors?

Each activity lists a minimum age, fitness level (easy / moderate / strenuous), and any health restrictions on the description page. Family-friendly experiences are tagged 'Family' — most cultural and city-walk tours suit ages 5–80.

What's included in the activity price?

Each activity page lists exactly what's included — typically transport from a meeting point, English-speaking guide, entrance fees, equipment, and (for full-day tours) lunch. Items not included (drinks, tips, personal extras) are also listed so there are no surprises.

What happens if my activity is cancelled due to weather?

Weather-dependent activities (paragliding, mountain flights, rafting) reschedule to the next available slot at no charge. If no reschedule works for your trip dates, you receive a full refund within 5–7 business days.

Do I need to print the voucher or is mobile OK?

All Yatra vouchers are mobile-friendly — show the QR code or booking ID on your phone at the meeting point. A small number of attractions (e.g. some museums) still require a printed voucher; this is flagged on the confirmation email when needed.

Can I book activities last-minute?

Yes. About 70% of Yatra activities accept same-day bookings up to 4 hours before start time. Filter by 'Available today' or look for the 'Book within X hours' badge to spot last-minute options.

Are there free activities or self-guided options?

Yes. Filter by 'Self-guided' for audio tours and digital guidebooks (typically NPR 200–800), or browse the free walking-tour calendar for tip-based group walks across Kathmandu, Pokhara, and Bhaktapur.

Will I be sharing the experience with other travelers?

Most published activities are small-group (4–15 travelers). Each card shows the group size. If you want a private experience, filter by 'Private tour' — pricing is typically 2–3× the per-person group rate but you set the pace.

Are pickup and drop-off included?

Hotel pickup is included on most multi-hour tours within a city — confirm by checking 'Pickup included' on the activity page. For activities outside the city (e.g. Bhaktapur from Kathmandu), the price typically includes round-trip private transport.

What's the difference between a tour and an experience on Yatra?

Tours are guided sightseeing trips with set itineraries and group transport. Experiences are interactive cultural activities (cooking, painting, meditation) with smaller groups, more host involvement, and usually take place in homes or specialized venues.

Can I customize the itinerary or add stops?

Group tours follow a fixed itinerary. For private bookings, request changes via the 'Custom request' button on the activity page — the operator confirms within 12 hours and may charge a small surcharge for extra stops or extended time.

Are tips for the guide expected?

Tipping is appreciated but not mandatory in Nepal. Customary tips for half-day guides are NPR 500–1,000 per group, full-day NPR 1,000–2,000. For adventure-sports operators, NPR 200–500 per traveler is standard. Yatra never adds a service charge to tips.
