Day-by-day itinerary

  1. 1

Day 1 — Chengdu → Jiuzhaigou | Tibetan Village Experience in Zhongcha Valley

Depart from Chengdu by high-speed train at around 10:00 AM and arrive at Jiuzhai Huanglong Railway Station at 12:30 PM. Upon arrival, meet your private driver and guide at the station and transfer you to Zhongcha Valley. Instead of heading directly into Jiuzhaigou Scenic Area, today is designed as a relaxed introduction to the region. Located near the Jiuzhaigou entrance, Zhongcha Valley features peaceful Tibetan villages, colorful prayer flags, mountain streams, forests, and alpine meadows.

Enjoy Lunch at your own expense. A local restaurant in the Huamei Resort area is available for lunch. Yak beef hot pot is a popular local specialty.

In the afternoon, enjoy an easy cultural hike through Zhongcha Valley. Follow peaceful mountain trails through forests, past streams, prayer flags, and traditional Tibetan villages while your guide introduces local customs, traditional beliefs, and Tibetan daily life. Guests who prefer a more adventurous experience may choose an optional UTV forest ride at extra cost.

In the evening, visit a local Tibetan family home and enjoy a traditional dinner featuring yak beef, butter tea, tsampa, and other regional dishes. You may also explore the family's prayer room and gather around the traditional fireplace while learning about local traditions. After dinner, join a traditional Guozhuang bonfire dance with local Tibetan hosts.

After the evening experience, transfer back to your hotel and check in.

After breakfast at the hotel, take a private transfer to Jiuzhaigou Scenic Area. Spend a full day exploring Jiuzhaigou National Park without changing hotels or making long transfers.

Explore Jiuzhaigou's famous Y-shaped valleys by the park's sightseeing shuttle buses. Depending on weather, visitor flow, and your pace, your guide will help arrange the sightseeing route. Highlights may include Long Lake, Five-Color Pond, Primeval Forest, Nuorilang Waterfall, Shuzheng Lakes, Rhinoceros Lake, and other iconic Jiuzhaigou landscapes.

Day 3 — Huanglong Scenic Area | Five-Color Pools & Return to Chengdu

After a relaxed breakfast at the hotel, check out and travel by private vehicle to Huanglong Scenic Area with your guide.

Known for its colorful travertine pools, snow-capped mountain views, and alpine scenery, Huanglong sits at a higher altitude than Jiuzhaigou. Due to Huanglong's high altitude, a slower walking pace is recommended. Avoid strenuous activity and inform your guide if you experience any discomfort.

Take the uphill cable car, then follow the wooden boardwalk toward the Five-Color Pools, the highlight of Huanglong. The pools display layers of blue, green, yellow, and turquoise under the sunlight. On the way down, you may see highlights such as Golden Sand Beach, Zhengyan Pond, and Bonsai Pond.

Your guide will help manage the pace based on weather conditions and your travel schedule. After the visit, transfer to Jiuzhai Huanglong Railway Station and take an afternoon high-speed train back to Chengdu, usually between 2:00 PM and 3:00 PM.

Travel tips
Why Jiuzhaigou
If you've stood at Grand Prismatic and watched steam drift across those impossible rings of color, you already understand something: mineral-rich water is one of the great artists of the natural world.
Yellowstone shows you that force at its most violent — geysers, mud pots, unstable ground.
Jiuzhaigou shows you the same chemistry at rest. On the eastern edge of the Tibetan Plateau, calcium-carbonate meltwater has spent millennia laying down travertine dams until an entire valley became a staircase of 108 lakes. Turquoise over jade over amber, with sunken trees still standing white beneath the surface. There is no equivalent palette in North America. Two hours north, Huanglong stacks 3,400 terraced pools down a mountainside at 3,500 meters — the largest open-air travertine formation on earth. Two UNESCO World Heritage Sites, a hundred kilometers apart. And the valley between them isn't empty land — it's Amdo Tibetan country, with nine villages inside the park itself, prayer flags on the ridgelines, monasteries still functioning as monasteries. The culture here is still resident.
Why this trip
Tours4fun was founded in Los Angeles, but Sichuan is home — our founder grew up in Chengdu. This isn't a destination we researched from a desk..What transportation to use, how to route the itinerary to save the most time while avoiding altitude sickness, where to stay for both quality and experience, how to balance scenery with culture — our team surveyed this route on the ground, and this product is our answer. Come and see it for yourself. You've seen what the earth can erupt. Come see what it can settle.
