Day-by-day itinerary

Day 1 — Arrival Taiyuan
Arrive at Taiyuan Airport/Railway station. Upon arrival, a representative will be waiting to greet you at the airport/railway station and accompany you on the transfer to the city. The 30-minute private transfer will take you directly to your hotel in Taiyuan. Enjoy the rest of the day at your leisure in the city. Take the opportunity to rest and recover after the flight or head out into the city for your first glimpse of life in one of China's sprawling city.

Day 2 — Taiyuan - Pingyao (105km - 1.5hr)
After breakfast at the hotel, we will pick you up at about 8:30am at hotel's lobby to drive to Pingyao. On the way we'll stop to see Jinci Temple, the most prominent temple complex in Shanxi, located southwest of Taiyuan at the foot of Xuanweng Mountain at the Jin Springs, just 30-minute-drive from Taiyuan. We'll visit its beautiful gardens and the Holy Mother. Afterwards we'll continue to Qiao's Family Compound, a traditional merchant dwelling in the north of China, known for its large scales and the exquisite craftsmanship of wood, brick and stone carvings. We'll stop for lunch at the local restaurant at midday (incl.), and after we'll continue driving to Pingyao, en-route visiting a World Heritage Site, Pingyao Ancient City. Check-in to your hotel in the late afternoon and the rest of the day at leisure to further explore the surroundings of this "Turtle City".

Day 3 — Pingyao - Taiyuan (105km - 1.5hr)
Enjoy your breakfast at the hotel and get ready to enjoy a half-day walking tour around the ancient walls of Pingyao City. We'll stop for a lunch at the local restaurant and then, after a 30-minute-drive we'll go to visit Shuanglin Temple, shelter and protector of important cultural relics of China. The temple is notable for its collection of more than 2,000 decorated clay statues that are dated to the 12th-19th centuries. It is nicknamed the museum of coloured sculptures. In the afternoon we'll drive back to Taiyuan, with the estimated arrival to the hotel at 18:00pm. The rest of the evening at leisure.

Day 4 — Departure Taiyuan
