Important info
Special notes
- What to Bring:
- A tripod and (DSLR) camera with adjustable shutter speed are required to photograph the Aurora Borealis. A wide angle lens provides the best results capturing the Northern Lights (recommended)
- Thermal layers, such as long sleeve shirts and pants
- Fleece or quick-dry pants and sweaters
- Neck warmer and/or balaclava
- Fleece or warm hat
- Thermal socks
- Thin fleece gloves or glove liners
- Ski goggles or sunglasses
- Indoor shoes or slippers
- Swimsuit to enjoy the hot tub!
- What type of travel insurance is recommended for this tour?
- We highly recommend purchasing comprehensive travel insurance for this tour, including medical emergency.
- What kind of weather should I expect in The Yukon?
- During your stay in Whitehorse, Yukon, you can expect cold winter temperatures, typically ranging from -10°C to -15°C (14°F to 5°F), but it can often drop even lower. Your accommodation will provide a winter clothing rental for your stay, including boots, pants, a parka, gloves, and a balaclava. We highly recommend packing your own extra layers and coats, thermal underlayers, warm socks, and personal winter accessories like hats and scarves to ensure you stay warm and comfortable during your adventure.\
- What should I know about the care of dogs during the dog sledding experience?
- Dog sledding is a traditional practice in The Yukon, used as a method of transportation by Indigenous people. The half-day dog sledding experience add-on on this tour offers a chance to learn more about this unique culture, and participate in it first-hand.
- The dogs are well cared for, receiving regular veterinary check-ups and proper nutrition. Tour guides prioritize the welfare of the dogs and ensure they are healthy and happy, which is why the availability for this activity is very limited. You will have the opportunity to get to know your own team of dogs and care for them during your experience!
- Can I expect to see the Northern Lights during my trip?
- While the lodge's location outside Whitehorse offers optimal conditions for Northern Lights viewing, sightings can never be guaranteed, as they depend on weather and solar activity. Fortunately, The Yukon has an average of 300 days of Northern Lights visibility a year. We recommend staying up late or setting an alarm for the early morning hours, when the lights are most likely to appear.
- If you are not lucky enough to see the Aurora Borealis, rest assured your experience will remain an unforgettable one, and you'll have another reason to visit The Yukon again in the future!
- What dietary accommodations are available at the lodge?
- All meals are included in your stay, with three breakfasts, three lunches, and three gourmet dinners prepared by your personal chef. The inn can accommodate a number of dietary restrictions and preferences. Please inform us of any special needs at the time of booking, and we will do our best to accommodate.
