Day-by-day itinerary

  1. 1

    Day 1 — Inverness - Ullapool - Isle of Lewis - Stornoway

Over the Sea to the Outer Hebrides
Your Scotland island adventure begins as we travel north from Inverness, the capital of the Scottish Highlands, through the remote and dramatic landscapes of Sutherland. This region is known for its wide-open spaces, rugged mountains, and unspoiled wilderness: classic Highland scenery at its best.
Arriving in the picturesque fishing town of Ullapool, we board the ferry to the Outer Hebrides, a chain of islands off Scotland's west coast. As we sail past the Summer Isles, keep watch for dolphins, whales, seabirds, and other marine life in these rich Atlantic waters.
    Ancient history and traditional tweed…
Once on the Isle of Lewis, our Hebridean journey begins with a visit to a Blackhouse, a traditional stone home offering insight into island life and the history of Harris Tweed, the world-famous wool cloth still handwoven in the Outer Hebrides today.
We then continue to Stornoway, the cultural and commercial heart of the island, where you'll settle into your accommodation for the next two nights. The evening is free to explore this charming harbour town, browse local shops, or enjoy fresh Scottish seafood.

Day 2 — Stornoway - Carloway Broch - Callanish Standing Stones - Luskentyre - Golden Road - Stornoway

Ancient Stone Circles and Iron Age Wonders
After breakfast, we visit Carloway Broch, one of the best-preserved Iron Age towers in Scotland. Built more than 2,000 years ago, this remarkable drystone structure offers panoramic views over the surrounding lochs and moorland.
Next, we explore the legendary Callanish Standing Stones, among the most important prehistoric monuments in Europe. Older than Stonehenge, these towering stones are set against a sweeping Highland backdrop. You'll have time to explore the site, visit the interpretation center, and enjoy lunch nearby.
    World-Famous Beaches and Coastal Scenery
In the afternoon, we travel south into Harris, home to some of the most beautiful beaches in the world. Walk along the white sands of Luskentyre Beach, famous for its turquoise waters, rolling dunes, and views of the Harris mountains often compared to Caribbean beaches, but with a distinctly Scottish twist.
Our return journey follows the stunning Golden Road, a scenic coastal drive winding past sea lochs, rocky headlands, and traditional crofting communities.

Day 3 — Stornoway - Butt of Lewis lighthouse - Stornoway - Inverness

Lighthouses, Legends, and Wild Atlantic Coastlines
This morning, we journey to the far north of the island to visit the iconic Butt of Lewis Lighthouse, perched high above the Atlantic Ocean. Known as one of the windiest places in the UK, this dramatic headland offers unforgettable views of crashing waves, rugged cliffs, and seabird colonies.
We continue to Port of Ness, a scenic coastal village on the Isle of Lewis renowned for its white-sand beaches, turquoise Atlantic waters, and dramatic ocean swells. This unspoiled stretch of coastline offers outstanding photo opportunities and time to stroll along wild, wind-swept beaches that highlight the raw natural beauty of the Outer Hebrides. The rugged scenery and open seascapes here perfectly capture the remote, untamed character of Scotland's Atlantic islands.
After returning to Stornoway for lunch, we board the ferry back to mainland Scotland and begin our scenic drive south to Inverness. Relax and enjoy the ever-changing Highland landscapes as your Outer Hebrides tour from Inverness comes to an end.
