Although the entire Ngorongoro Reserve covers 8,288 square kilometres, the focus of visitors is on the extinct crater, which covers an area of 310 square kilometres and is more than 600 metres deep. This huge crater is like a living biology textbook, showing us what an ecosystem is and what ecological balance means. There are about 25,000 large animals that inhabit this geographically relatively semi-enclosed area. Carnivores, herbivores, herbaceous plants, and animal manure as fertilizer form a self-sufficient ecosystem that has existed for tens of thousands of years.
In the afternoon, head to the central area of the Serengeti and check in at the hotel.

Day 4 — Serengeti
Full-day Serengeti National ParkThe Serengeti is Tanzania's oldest and most popular national park, famous for its annual migration, where the hooves of six million animals trample the open plains, and more than 200,000 zebras and 300,000 Towne's gazelles join the wildebeest trek in search of tender pastures. However, after the migration, the Serengeti regained its true character as one of Africa's most striking animal sanctuaries: large herds of buffalo, small herds of elephants and giraffes, and thousands of horned wildebeest, East African wildebeest, impala and Gratwe's gazelle.
In addition to watchingthe animals, the vast Serengeti plains are equally fascinating, with savannahs under the blazing sun stretching all the way to the golden horizon in the distance. But after heavy rains, the vast golden grasslands turn into endless green carpets dotted with dappled wildflowers. There are also tree-reborn hills, towering termite mounds, rivers lined by fig trees, and dusty orange acacia forests.

In fact, the Serengeti is the only region on Earth that can witness such a large number of wildlife populations. More than a million herbivores migrate in search of water and food in this vast grassland, and their migration is an epic recreation of hundreds of thousands of years of natural history. The journey is fraught with danger and life and death, making up the most magnificent annual animal migration spectacle in nature.
