Day-by-day itinerary

  1. 1

    Day 1 — London - Barcelona

Meet our representative at the airport this morning, who will provide you with your flight ticket from London Heathrow to Barcelona. You will need to manage your own check-in this morning and ensure you are at the correct gate and adhere to times as per the guidelines provided by the airport information system.

Upon your arrival in Barcelona, meet your tour representative in the arrival's hall, or at a previously specified location. From there, we will board our coach and begin our adventure.

Our first destination is Montjuic, a hill that offers splendid views over Barcelona harbor. A cable car ride will take you to the top, offering a picturesque view of the harbor and the city, providing a superb backdrop for your photos. Note that the visit does not include entry to the castle at the top. On our way back, we will get a glimpse of Barcelona's Olympic Stadium.

Next, we will head into Barcelona city center, stopping at an Indian restaurant for lunch.

Subsequent to lunch, enjoy some free time at Las Ramblas. Here you can shop for souvenirs, unwind at numerous cafes, or simply absorb the bustling ambiance. Later, we will attend a Flamenco Show. Although Flamenco isn’t native to Barcelona, it has blossomed here as Andalusians have migrated here for work. The show is not just about the dance but also features masterful guitar playing and beautiful singing, taking place in a cozy venue that evokes the gypsy flamenco caves of southern Spain. It’s important to note that the flamenco show may be scheduled for day 2 instead.
To wrap up our day, we will have a delicious dinner before heading to the hotel.

    Day 2 — Barcelona - Montserrat - Barcelona

After breakfast, meet our local professional guide for a city tour of Barcelona, ensuring you will be engulfed in its rich history and showcased its significant sights.

Next, we will visit the exterior of Antoni Gaudi's renowned, Sagrada Familia. A year after its construction began in 1882, Gaudi assumed control, transforming the initial neo-Gothic designs into a grand, unprecedented vision. Despite being only 70% complete, the Basilica holds its own unique magnificence.

Post admiring the Sagrada Familia, we will proceed to a restaurant for an Indian lunch. Afterward, we will board the coach and head to Montserrat, an awe-inspiring Benedictine monk mountain retreat, approximately an hour’s drive from Barcelona. A trip to Montserrat often stands out as a highlight for visitors to Spain.

The Montserrat Monastery is not only of substantial religious importance but is also surrounded by breathtaking natural beauty. Our ascent to the top will be conducted by either coach or funicular. Enjoy some leisure time exploring near the Monastery before we return to the coach and journey back to Barcelona.

    Day 3 — Barcelona - Valencia

In the morning, following breakfast, we will check out of the hotel and set our course south towards Valencia, tracing the scenic coast along the Balearic Sea. Expect approximately a 4-hour journey, placing us in Valencia by the afternoon.

Upon arrival in Valencia's city centre, we will be joined by our local professional guide to commence our exploration of this culturally rich port city. Our tour initiates with a viewing of the Town Hall, an amalgamation of two interconnected blocks: the historical Casa de la Enseñanza and a newer addition from the early 20th century, serving as the City Council since 1934. This modern construction features lavish decoration and a central clock tower.

Our journey continues with a visit to the expansive Gateway Towers of Serranos and Quart. These structures, constructed in the Valencian Gothic style at the end of the 14th century, represent one of the twelve gates from the ancient city wall and are celebrated as the largest Gothic city gateway in Europe.

Following this, we will marvel at the La Seo Cathedral, a significant sight in Valencia, home to a multitude of religious and artistic treasures. Furthermore, we will explore the City of Arts and Sciences, a substantial scientific and cultural complex in Europe, comprising striking buildings like the Hemisfèric and Oceanogràfic, and renowned for its architectural brilliance.

To conclude our day, we will savor a Spanish or Indian dinner, offering a light continental meal option from either cuisine.

    Day 4 — Valencia - Madrid

After enjoying breakfast this morning, we will check out of the hotel and journey toward one of Valencia's premier attractions: L'Oceanogràfic.

Inside L'Oceanogràfic, we will explore Europe’s largest aquarium, home to representations from the world’s major marine ecosystems. Each building is designated to different aquatic environments: the Mediterranean, Wetlands, Temperate and Tropical Seas, Oceans, the Antarctic, the Arctic, Islands, and the Red Sea, as well as a sizable Dolphinarium with a depth of 10.5 meters and containing 24 million litres of water.

Subsequently, we will embark on a drive to Madrid, Spain's capital, characterized by its elegant boulevards and lush, expansive parks. Anticipate reaching Madrid late in the afternoon, with a stop en route for lunch at a service area offering only continental food options, noting that no fast-food restaurants will be available.

Upon arrival in Madrid’s city centre, our panoramic tour will unfold, spotlighting the Royal Palace, the official residence of the Spanish Royal Family and the largest royal palace in Europe by floor area. We will also explore the bustling "Puerta del Sol," a renowned public square, and the "Plaza de Cibeles," a square symbolizing Madrid with its neoclassical complex of marble sculptures and fountains. Here, observe the Bank of Spain, the Palacio de Buenavista, the Palace of Linares, and the Cybele Palace.

Next, our journey takes us through the famed shopping district, "Gran Via," en route to "Plaza de España," where we will admire the monument to Miguel de Cervantes Saavedra and two of Madrid's significant skyscrapers. Continuing our tour, we will see Calle de Alcalá, Madrid’s longest street, and the Neptuno Fountain, a neoclassical fountain located in a roundabout, showcasing Neptune on a shell-shaped chariot.

In the evening, indulge in an Indian meal at a local restaurant before we return to our coach and head to the hotel.

    Day 5 — Madrid

This morning, after breakfast, we board our coach and head to the city centre of Madrid, targeting our first stop, the Royal Palace.

Upon securing our tickets, we will explore the interior of the Royal Palace, once the residence of Spanish Kings from Charles III to Alfonso XIII. Though no longer a royal home, it remains their official residence, offering us a fascinating journey through Spanish history with its 135,000 square metres and 3,418 rooms, not to mention its stunning architecture that splendidly overlooks the river valley. As we depart, we will drive past the esteemed Prado Museum, constructed under Charles III as part of an ambitious architectural initiative.

Next, we pause for an Indian lunch at a local restaurant, followed by some leisure time at the Market of San Miguel, Madrid's renowned covered market. Here, indulge in gourmet tapas, explore over 30 vendors offering a vibrant array of freshly prepared foods, hams, olives, and baked goods, or simply immerse yourself in the lively atmosphere.

During the day, we will pass by the notable bullring in Madrid, Las Ventas, inaugurated in 1931 and recognized as one of the most important bullfighting arenas in the world, viewing its impressive architecture from outside.

In the afternoon, we navigate towards "Gran Via", arguably Madrid's most vital shopping artery and an entertaining thoroughfare sometimes likened to Spanish Broadway. It's not just a shopper's paradise but also a window to various parts of Madrid city centre, connecting Calle de Alcalá and Plaza de España.
Dinner awaits us at the restaurant in the evening.

Later you can opt for an additional "Madrid By Night" tour. Should you choose the optional night tour, we embark on a 90-minute journey, exploring the vibrant nocturnal scenes of Madrid, including the Gran Via, Royal Palace, Plaza Mayor, Fountain of Cibeles, and Plaza de España.

Finally, we return to the hotel, preparing to pack our bags and check out the following morning.

Important info

Special notes
  • Currency: In Spain the currency you will require will be Euros.  Passengers should exchange any spending money for their holiday before they actually travel. Whilst on tour it is very inconvenient and not all places you will visit will have ATM machines or accept credit/debit cards. We also advice our passengers to keep some change in coins on them whilst on tour as using toilets in many parts of Europe is not free. USD, GBP or travellers’ cheques are not widely accepted at locations in this tour.
  • Distances: An important point to note whilst on a touring holiday is that some long journeys are unavoidable, especially when travelling from city to city. It is advisable that passengers carry necessities that they may need for the day, such as water, dry snacks, cameras, etc., in their hand luggage. It should be noted that the travel times are extensive on this tour.
  • Additional Excursions: Madrid Night Tour - See the vibrant city come alive in the night, where we visit the Gran Via, Royal Palace lit up, Plaza Mayor, Fountain of Cibeles and Plaza de España. The city truly comes alive in the night. Madrid Football Stadium - "Santiago Bernabéu Stadium" You will have an opportunity here to go inside one of the world's most prestigious football stadium. Discover Real Madrid’s numerous famed international players like Di Estefano, Hugo Sánchez, Puskas, Beckham, Zidane, Casillas, Raúl, Guti, Ramos and Ronaldo. A stunning panoramic view of the Stadium, followed by the ‘Best Club in History’ Room, Sensations Room, Photomontages Room, finally make the visit to the pitch and check out the presidential box. It should be noted this optional is only available on non-event days at the stadium and is subject to availability.
  • Hotel: Please note that not all hotels on this tour will have air conditioning or kettles. If you require warm milk for a baby, we recommend bringing your bottle warmer and milk supply. Passengers may also want to carry a small travel iron and hairdryer, as these amenities may not be available in all hotel rooms. In some European hotels, double occupancy rooms may consist of two single beds pushed together. We work with such hotels, so please be prepared for this arrangement. If you use additional services such as the phone, minibar, or pay-per-view TV in your room, these costs are not included in the tour package and must be settled directly with the hotel upon checkout. The maximum occupancy per room on this tour is three people. However, from March to May, some hotels may only accommodate a maximum of two people per room.
  • Meals: Passengers can choose from various meal options, including vegetarian, Jain, or non-vegetarian. Please note that Jain and Halal meals may not always be available. We ask that passengers inform the tour manager of their preferred diet on the first day of the tour. Meals are served as pre-set buffets, and menu choices are not available. Only tap water will be provided with meals. On some days, a pre-set continental meal may be served. Breakfast will be provided at the hotels, usually in a designated dining area, and typically consists of a continental selection including tea, coffee, bread, cereals, fruit, and yoghurt. Lunches are generally vegetarian, though there may be occasions when a non-vegetarian dish is offered. Dinners are typically served in a separate dining area within the hotel or at a restaurant. If you have any concerns about the ingredients in a dish, please consult your tour manager. If you require specific allergen information, please get in touch with us in advance so we can assist you accordingly.
  • Visas & Passports: When travelling to Europe, it's crucial to ensure your passport and visa requirements are in order before departure. Your passport must be valid for at least three months beyond your intended stay in Europe. It should also have been issued within the last ten years and have sufficient blank pages for entry and exit stamps. If you are a national of India, Pakistan, or Bangladesh, you must obtain a Schengen visa before travelling. This visa allows entry into any of the 27 Schengen countries for short stays (up to 90 days within 180 days). Ensure you apply for your Schengen visa well in advance, as processing times may vary. Nationals of British, American, Australian, Canadian, and other visa-exempt countries currently do not require a Schengen visa for short stays (up to 90 days within 180 days). However, starting in 2025, all visa-exempt travellers (including British and American citizens) must apply for ETIAS (European Travel Information and Authorization System) before entering the Schengen Area. The ETIAS application is a simple online process that requires travellers to provide personal information and pay a small fee (€7). Once approved, the authorisation will be valid for three years or until your passport expires. From Early 2025, the EES will be introduced across Schengen countries. This system will electronically record the entry and exit of all non-EU travellers, replacing manual passport stamping. Travelers' biometric data (fingerprints and facial images) will be recorded during their first entry into the Schengen Area.
  • Weather: Weather in much of Western Europe tends to be the same as England and is very unpredictable. Regardless of the time of the year, it is advisable to carry an umbrella. Temperatures vary from place to place and it is a good idea to check online for average temperatures for the destination(s) being visited depending on the time of the year. There are three different climate zones in Spain, due to its large size. Visitors can generally expect a Mediterranean climate, characterized by hot, dry summers and mild, rainy winters. The vast central plateau, or Meseta, has a more continental influenced climate with hot, dry summers and cold winters. Rain generally falls mostly in spring and autumn. Passengers can be well prepared by ensuring they are carrying appropriate clothing, footwear and accessories. Passengers should also be aware that during the winter months most of the sightseeing will be in the dark as, in Europe, the day becomes dark very early during winter. Passengers should consult with us at the time of booking if they are unsure.
  • Wheelchair Accessibility: We welcome passengers using lightweight manual wheelchairs on our tours, provided the wheelchair can be stowed in the coach’s luggage hold. Passengers are encouraged to contact us in advance to ensure we can meet their specific mobility needs. Our staff will try to assist passengers with reduced mobility in compliance with the Regulations. Please note, however, that a family member or companion will need to be present to assist with pushing the wheelchair throughout the tour. We will request accessible hotel rooms for wheelchair users wherever possible, but this depends on availability and cannot be guaranteed. We advise passengers to inform us of their requirements in advance so we can make the necessary requests. Please be aware that specific destinations, such as Mt. Titlis and the Eiffel Tower, are inaccessible to wheelchair users. Additionally, locations like Brussels, Lucerne & Lion Monument have cobbled streets, which may make it difficult for wheelchairs to navigate. Passengers should take these factors into account when planning their trip.
  • Child Seat Requirement: In most European countries, it is mandatory for children under the age of 12 years or shorter than 150 cm to use appropriate child restraints while travelling in a coach. Children under seven years old or under 125 cm tall must use a child seat with a harness or appropriate restraint system. Children aged 7 to 12 years or between 125 cm and 150 cm tall must use a booster seat or a seat cushion. The parent or guardian is responsible for providing a suitable child seat for their child. Passengers should ensure they bring the appropriate child restraint system that complies with local laws in the visited countries, as there may be minor variations in regulations across European nations.
  • Baggage and Packing: Due to limited storage space on coaches, checking the baggage allowance for your tour before departure is essential. Ensure your luggage meets the size and weight requirements in your tour documents. Excess baggage may not be permitted. Pack a small day bag for personal items, medications, snacks, and travel documents to keep with you during the journey, as accessing the main luggage may not be possible until designated stops.
  • Punctuality: Respect timings during stops; there will be scheduled comfort breaks and sightseeing stops throughout the tour. Be sure to return to the coach on time after each stop to avoid delays and respect the entire group's schedule. Coaches operate on a strict timetable to ensure that all scheduled visits and activities are completed on time. Passengers who arrive late at any point may risk missing the coach, as drivers cannot wait beyond the allocated time for each stop. The tour may sometimes involve changes in coaches or representatives, particularly when merging with other groups. Please adhere to the instructed times for these transitions to ensure smooth coordination.
  • Coach Facilities: While most coaches are equipped with WC facilities, they may be limited in availability. Using restroom facilities during scheduled breaks at rest stops is recommended to avoid discomfort. Seating and Safety: By law, passengers must wear seat belts where fitted. Seats are pre-assigned and given to you on the departure date. Seat requests are not taken under any circumstances.
  • Personal Health and Medication: Bring any necessary medications with you in your day bag. If you are prone to motion sickness, carry appropriate remedies or medications to ensure a comfortable journey. If your tour includes high-altitude destinations, ensure you are medically fit to travel at such heights. Those with heart or lung conditions should consult a doctor beforehand. Pack sunscreen, sunglasses, and warm clothing, as temperatures can vary significantly at high altitudes.
  • Cultural and Local Etiquette: Be mindful of the local customs and etiquette, especially when visiting religious or historical sites. Dress modestly where required, and be respectful of local customs and traditions.
  • Electronics and Connectivity: Some coaches are equipped with USB charging ports, but this is not guaranteed. Ensure your devices are charged beforehand, and consider bringing a portable charger/power bank. WiFi is unavailable on the coach, so bring along books, headphones, or downloaded movies and music to enjoy during long journey stretches.
  • Environmental Awareness: Be conscious of the environment during your tour. Carry a reusable water bottle to reduce plastic waste, fill up at restaurants and hotels, and dispose of trash properly at rest stops.
