Day-by-day itinerary
- 1
Day 1 — Hometown - Fairbanks
Welcome to Borealis Basecamp! Today you will be picked up by our Borealis Basecamp shuttle at 2:30pm from your Fairbanks area hotel or from the Fairbanks airport. Please be ready at least 15 minutes prior.
On arrival, your shuttle driver will deliver your luggage to your igloo while you're greeted by our incredible staff. From there, you will be ushered to your Arctic Igloo for an evening of Auora Viewing. Day 2 — Borealis Basecamp
Today you will experience the rugged backcountry of Alaska and see the trails behind Borealis Basecamp. Included is your extended White Mountains UTV tour. On this 4-6 hour long guided tour, stop for photo opportunities on the trail and eat lunch at our remote forest outpost. Includes winter gear and an introductory lesson from our tour guides.

Day 3 — Borealis Basecamp
Today is your Alaska sled dog tour! Meet real Alaskan racing sled dogs and learn about life on the trail, then enjoy a 30-minute-long dog karting tour through the Borealis Forest.
After lunch, grab a trail map or fat tire bikes from our guide staff and take off on an adventure through maintained trails throughout the property. Day 4 — Borealis Basecamp - Fairbanks
Check out is at 11:00am, and a Borealis Basecamp shuttle will take you back to Fairbanks. We can drop you off at any major Fairbanks hotel or the airport.

- Cancellation/Amendment Policy:
* 63 days or more prior to the departure date: 35% penalty fee;
* 48-62 days prior to the departure date: 55% penalty fee;
* 0-47 days prior to the departure date: 100% penalty fee, non-refundable;
* No-show on tour, 100% penalty fee - This tour requires an American visa. We suggest you follow the EVUS handbook to apply for a visa and only upon obtaining it will you book a tour.
- We suggest that you wait to buy your plane tickets until your tour booking has been confirmed.
- The Aurora Borealis is a natural phenomenon. There is no way for us to guarantee that you will see the Aurora. We do our best to provide premier locations for viewing, should the Aurora appear in the sky. Please check the weather and Aurora reports before booking your tour through us. If the Aurora does not appear, your money will not be refunded.
- What amenities are provided in the igloo?
Each room at Borealis Basecamp comes with a hairdryer, shampoo, conditioner, body wash, moisturizing hand cream, in-room free wireless internet, a hot water kettle, and complimentary hot cocoa, tea, and coffee. All igloos have a private bathroom.
Please note that we do not guarantee an in-room refrigerator in the igloos, if you require items to be refrigerated during your stay please let the staff know at the front desk and they can refrigerate them for you. - What is the best time to see the lights?
Really the aurora is visible from August to April each year, and we see it most nights we have good weather up at Basecamp. We can never guarantee when is the best time or which time of year will have the best weather. We recommend you visit during a time of year that best suits your schedule and interests! - What is the smoking policy?
We have a strict smoking policy at Borealis Basecamp. For the safety of our guests, we do not allow smoking or vaping anywhere indoors on our property. We do charge $500 for smoking damage when it can be proven that a guest has smoked inside of their room. - Is there alcohol at Basecamp?
We have beer and wine available through our restaurant, Latitude 65. Alcohol purchased off-site will be limited to in igloo consumption. - Restrictions:
- For UTV/snow machine tours: Drivers must be 16 years and up, and riders must be 8 years and up. Riders are not permitted on White Mountains tours.
- For heli tours: 300 lbs per seat including gear. Guests under 2 are free and must ride on a lap according to FAA regulations. Guests 2 years and up are a full paying seat and cannot be on a lap.
- For dog sled experience: Children under 4 can sit in a lap and are free of charge.
- Sled dog and machine activities not recommended for those who are pregnant or elderly.
Pricing notes (children, single supplement)
* Our igloos are suited for 1 or 2 people. Triple occupancy requires a rollaway bed. Quad occupancy unfortunately is not possible. Parties of 4 people will have to book 2 igloos.
* Our igloos are furnished with 1 King bed or 2 twin beds.
