Day-by-day itinerary

    Day 1 — Hometown - Yellowknife - Aurora Hunting or Viewing

    You will get picked up (24-HOUR Airport transfer service). Based on your flight arrival time, our tour guide will meet your flight in the airport. Our guides wear red Canada Goose parkas with the mark of a black polar bear on the right chest. Transfer to Hotel.

    We provide everything you need in the extreme cold! You don't have to bring your heavy winter gear when coming to Yellowknife.

    We will drive you to different lakes and locations to hunt for the best spot for Aurora viewing and relax  in our luxurious bus. You will enjoy seeing Aurora's reflection on the lakes when Aurora appears.

    You will also enjoy Aurora  in a comfortable, cozy cabin at Aurora Teepee Lodge. Hot beverages and snacks are served. During the visit, our First Nation host will show how to hunt in the Arctic and show different furs. Opportunities to try on fur and clothing will be available. Our tour guides will provide free Aurora photography service during viewing time.

    You can wait for the Northern Lights in the comfort of a cozy cabin, and on cloudy days, we can chase the Northern Lights in different directions based on the cloud conditions.

    Day 2 — Free Day or Optional Tours

    City Tour (1-2 hours): Make stops at the Yellowknife Welcome Sign, the shores of Great Slave Lake, Old Town, Indigenous Reserve, and the Bush Pilots Monument for a panoramic view of the city. Visit the Visitor Centre to pick up your signature yellow knife and Polar Certificate. The tour ends outside the famous Bullock's Bistro and one of Canada's most affordable Canada Goose outlets. Guests are welcome to get off the bus and explore on their own.

    Optional Self-Guided or Paid Activities: Cameron Falls hike, canoeing on Great Slave Lake, or self-driving an ATV for an off-road adventure.
    【Cameron Falls Hike (Autumn Only)】
    Follow a scenic trail through pristine forest, accompanied by the gentle sound of flowing water as you approach the breathtaking Cameron Falls. Cascading down rocky cliffs, the waterfall creates a misty spray that blends beautifully with the surrounding greenery—like a vivid painting of the northern wilderness. The full experience lasts approximately 4 hours.
      

    【Boat Trip in Great Slave Lake (4 hours, lunch included, available only in autumn)】
    The experience lasts around 4 hours. Board a boat and cruise across Great Slave Lake — one of the deepest lakes in North America. With its crystal-clear blue waters and endless horizon, the scenery feels like stepping into a painting. As we glide across the tranquil surface, you'll take in the breathtaking blend of sky and water, and experience the unique charm of Canada's Northwest. Midway through the journey, we'll stop at an island to enjoy a delicious lunch.
      
      【Self-Drive ATV Off-Road Adventure (1-hour ride, available in autumn only; single or double riders per vehicle)】
    Led by an experienced guide for a safe and exciting ride, you'll drive through Yellowknife's sandy terrain and along the edge of the forest. Navigate winding trails and explore untouched wilderness as you take in the unique natural landscapes of the Northwest Territories. You'll have the freedom to drive and stop along the way for photos.
    ❤ Suggested Optional Tours in Winter (10/16/2025-4/11/2026)
    For free time or optional paid activities, you can choose from ice fishing, dog sledding, snowmobiling.

    【Ice Fishing + Downtown Restaurant Fish Meal (Winter Only)】
    Drive to the edge of Great Slave Lake to visit an Indigenous family. Local Indigenous fishermen will have pre-drilled ice holes on the fish route. Guests can join the local fishermen in net fishing, experiencing the joy of being a polar fisherman firsthand. You can also freely play with snowboards. Afterwards, head to a downtown restaurant to enjoy a fish meal. After the meal, guests can return to their accommodation on their own (all hotels in the city center are within a 3-5 minute walk).
     


    【Dog Sledding (15 minutes, Winter Only】
    We will take you on our tour of Winter Activities at Aurora Village for your experience of Dog Team Ride Experience. You will be joined by other guests who are booked on other activities. In addition to your Dog Team Ride Experience, you will enjoy a host of other winter fun including tubing on the giant slide, marshmallow roasting on the fire pit, trying out the traditional snowshoes for a quick walk for photo op, etc all included in the tour price. (We will first book the Village Dog Sledding, which includes complimentary marshmallow roasting and tubing. If this is not available, it will automatically be switched to Beck's Dog Sledding.)
      

    【Snowmobile tours (1 hour, self-driving for one or two people, winter only)】
    Feel the thrill of freedom, glide over a frozen lake and through forested trails. Basic safety and operating instructions will be provided. Tour will be fully guided for your comfort and safety. Helmets are provided, and winter clothing can be rented for the tours.

    Spend time at leisure in the morning and our tour guide will pick you up in the hotel for the transfer to the airport.

  • Entrance fees & optional tours (Prices vary from season to season; only the price at the ticket booth / box office is final)
  • Winter Gear: includes Canada Goose jackets, snow pants, boots, and gloves, capable of withstanding temperatures as low as minus 60 degrees Celsius. Clothing for children aged 3-9 is also available. Please provide your height and shoe size. The gear will be collected after the last night's aurora viewing. Price includes 5% GST. (We have 140 sets of cold weather gear, all Canada Goose jackets).

Cancellation Policy:
*Group Room Bookings for 1-5 Room:
Cancellation made 6 days or more before departure will result in a 90% refund of the tour fee.
Cancellation made within 5 days or less before departure will not result in any refund.

*Group Room Bookings for 6 Rooms or More:
Cancellation made 33 days or more before departure will result in a 90% refund of the tour fee.
Cancellations made 6 to 32 days before departure (inclusive) are eligible for a refund of all fees except the hotel accommodation cost.
Cancellation made within 5 days or less before departure will not result in any refund.

*In the event of a complete tour cancellation due to weather or flight disruptions:
If canceled more than 6 days before departure (inclusive), 90% of the tour fee will be refunded.
If canceled within 5 days before departure (inclusive), no refund will be issued.

Special notes
 
  • The minimum pax to operate the tour: 2.
  • Aurora hunting by bus means the whole night sitting in a crowded space, a very special experience. Winter is always -30/-40, extremely cold. You will travel to different lakes and try different backgrounds.
  • Aurora viewing in camp means waiting in camp the whole night, comfortable, but only one location.
  • Our tour combines these two different styles of Aurora viewing. We bring our guests to several different locations to increase the possibility of seeing Aurora. After that, we bring our guest to a private cabin to rest and wait for Aurora.
  • It is nice to have a warm, private place to view Aurora since it is quite annoying when there are too many people in the same place taking pictures.
  • Before the tour, our experienced driver and accredited tour guide will meet you in the lobby of your hotel or at the front door of where you are staying. Our tour guide will provide general information to you, including: weather conditions, specifically chosen locations for that night and precautions for guests. Out bus departs for Aurora hunting when all our guests of honour are ready.
  • We will inspect the night sky for Aurora, so that you do not have to stand outside and freeze while waiting for it.
  • We will take pictures for you, no matter how many you want, it is all free!
  • We will drop you off at your hotel or where you are staying and wish you a good night!
  • We will drop you off at your hotel or where you After the tour, we will send a link to you, so you can download your pictures in the original pixel! During the tour in Aurora Teepee Lodge, we provide cookies/ hot chocolate/ different tea bags/hot dogs.

Pricing notes (children, single supplement)
* Price for Single Occupancy applies when one person stays in one standard hotel room.
* Price for Double/Triple/Quadruple Occupancy applies when two/three/four people stay in one standard hotel room respectively.
* Triple/Quadruple price does not guarantee a third/fourth bed in the room since each room is equipped with 2 beds. Please check the availability at the time of check-in.
* Maximum room capacity: 4 people including adult and child/infant.
* The child price is set as the price for children aged 3-10 sharing a room with two adults. If a child shares a room with one adult, the price is the same as for adults. Infants aged 0-2 stay free of charge.

About the Hotel

The Explorer hotel:Located in the heart of downtown, just a 5-minute walk to restaurants and supermarkets, and about 10 minutes on foot to attractions such as the museum and Legislative Assembly Visitor Centre. Guests are advised to bring their own slippers. The room is equipped with a coffee machine, electric kettle, microwave, and mini fridge.

  

Chateau Nova:Centrally located, about an 8-minute walk to restaurants and supermarkets, and around 5 minutes on foot to attractions such as the museum and the Legislative Assembly Visitor Centre. Guests should bring their own slippers. The room includes a coffee machine, electric kettle, microwave, and mini fridge.
