Day 2 — San Jose - Doka - Poas Volcano - LaPaz Waterfalls - San Jose
Depart from San José and head to Alajuela Province to visit the Doka, where you can learn about the coffee growing process. Leaving the busy city behind, the drive takes you through lush mountain landscapes toward Poás Volcano National Park - an active volcano located about 33 km from the capital at an elevation of 2,708 meters. Established in 1971, the park became a sister park to Taiwan's Taroko National Park in 1992. Upon arrival, enjoy a scenic walk to the crater and Lake Botos.
Next, continue to La Paz Waterfall Gardens and enjoy a delightful buffet lunch. After lunch, explore this lush natural park, which features not only stunning waterfalls but also a variety of unique South American species, much like a small zoo. The garden is home to hummingbirds and butterflies in flight, as well as an impressive jungle cat exhibit housing five endangered feline species: the margay, ocelot, jaguarundi, jaguar, and puma. You can also visit the insect, snake, and frog exhibits, and may even have the chance to get close to toucans. In the late afternoon, return to San José accompanied by the beautiful sunset.

Day 3 — San Jose - Tortuguero National Park
In the morning we will head to Tortuguero, a well-known national park in the northeast of Costa Rica, a journey of about three hours. The name Tortuguero means home of turtles. Tortuguero's 20-mile long oasis is lined with natural canals on one side and the beautiful Caribbean Sea on the other. Entering Tortuguero by water, you're in Jurassic Park: huge tropical trees, animals you've never seen before, and the whole national park is peaceful and beautiful. Tortuguero is an annual breeding base for endangered green sea turtles, hawksbill turtles and leatherback turtles, and from July to mid-October you can see turtles laying eggs on the beach.
At your own expense, you can take a boat ride, go canoeing, or walk to get up close and personal with the wildlife in the park: including 350 species of birds, three- and two-toed sloths, spider monkeys, white-faced monkeys and howler monkeys, jaguars, anteaters, wild boars, and a variety of amphibians and reptiles.
In the afternoon, head to the village of Tortuguero to learn about its history and culture, and at the end of the tour, stroll back to your hotel from the beach. Free time after dinner.
Participate in a night forest tour or night turtle hunt at your own expense to watch turtles go ashore to lay eggs (July to October only, with other guests)

Day 4 — Tortuguero National Park - Arenal Volcano
At 5:30 am, join a community-operated eco-tour and enjoy scenery reminiscent of the Amazon. You will take a boat along the canals to search for the park's wildlife. Led by a local naturalist guide, cruise through the national park and observe the region's rich biodiversity, including green sea turtles, crocodiles, and a wide range of fish and bird species. In the rainforest, you may also spot sloths, fishing bats, pizotes, raccoons, monkeys (howler, spider, and capuchin), and even the endangered jaguar.
After the tour, return to the lodge for a delicious breakfast. After breakfast, check out at 9:00 am and depart for the dock. Board a specialized boat and transfer by land out of Tortuguero National Park back toward San José. Enjoy lunch en route, then around 3:30 p.m., continue on to your Arenal hot springs hotel.

Day 5 — Arenal Volcano
After breakfast, head out for the SKY Rainforest Cable Car + Zipline or Forest Hike (choose one of the two).
Ride the cable car to take in the natural beauty surrounding Arenal Volcano. As you glide through the tropical rainforest, enjoy sweeping 360° views of Arenal Volcano and its lake, along with the rich biodiversity of this ecological paradise. Spot mammals moving freely through the trees and birds singing from high branches. Suspended 75 feet above the ground, the open-air cable car—secured only with safety railings—offers an exhilarating and immersive rainforest experience.
For thrill-seekers, you may upgrade to the Sky Trek zipline or Sky Walk, an adrenaline-filled adventure weaving between treetop platforms. Glide at speeds of up to 60 km/h and take in the rainforest scenery from above—an unforgettable experience that draws adventurers from around the world. If ziplining isn't for you, you can simply enjoy the cable car ride and a relaxing forest walk.
At noon, enjoy lunch with distant views of the volcano. Arenal, located in northern Costa Rica, is an active volcano known for its dramatic natural scenery. In the afternoon, return to your hotel to unwind in the hot springs and soothe your body. You may also opt for a massage or aromatherapy treatment at your own expense.
