Day 1 — Welcome to Cusco & City tour
Upon arrival in Cusco a representative of Valencia travel Cusco will be waiting at the airport for you and pick you up in our private transport and take you to your hotel where you will spend the night. Then you will have all the day to relax and enjoy the beauty of Cusco and it surroundings.
Private Excursion | Half Day Cusco City Tour
Our tour will start in the afternoon at 1:00 Pm., when we will first go to the wonderful Koricancha, next to the Church of Santo Domingo. According to chroniclers writing during the period immediately after the Spanish conquest, the Koricancha was the most sacred and important temple of the Inca Empire. Its walls were covered in gold, and life-size statues of plants and animals, all made of pure gold and silver, decorated its rooms and corridors. Unfortunately, this wealth was stripped away by the Spanish conquistadors. However, it remains a magnificent temple and your guide will take you around the Koricancha, showing you details.
After visiting the Koricancha, we will go to the Cathedral of Cusco, located in the Plaza de Armas. Built between 1560 and 1654 on the foundations of an existing Inca temple, this spectacular cathedral houses many works of art from the Cusco school of painters, and its high altar and pulpit are covered in gold and silver reliefs. Look closely and you'll also see elements of indigenous religious symbolism incorporated into the church by the natives who worked on its construction, such as the carved head of a jaguar on the doors.
Our next stop is the imposing Inca fortress of Sacsayhuaman, which stands on a hill above Cusco. Here you will see some of the best examples of Inca stonework and construction, including huge rocks that were carefully cut and fitted perfectly to form the walls. From here you will also have beautiful panoramic views of Cusco.
After exploring Sacsayhuaman, we will go up the hill to the Qenqo Archaeological Complex, which is considered an Inca labyrinth where there is an altar with ritual motifs.
Then we headed to Tambomachay. Tambomachay is the last attraction of our city tour, after which we will return to Cusco and drop you off at your hotel. But if you want to explore the city and its culture a little more, you can hire one of our extensions.

Day 2 — Machupicchu
Our tour starts in Cusco, where we will pick you up at 9: 00 am. and then we will go to the train station to board the train to Aguas Calientes (also known as Machu Picchu Pueblo). The train leaves at approximately 11:30 a.m., although the exact time changes sometimes. The two-hour train ride is a memorable experience in itself, as we pass through river canyons and rolling hills.
Aguas Calientes is the gateway to Machu Picchu, sitting in a deep gorge at the foot of the mountain on which Machu Picchu stands. It is a beautiful town that mixes traditional life with a huge tourist infrastructure, with a multitude of markets, souvenir shops, hotels and restaurants. It's also largely pedestrianized, making it a fun place to explore on foot. Aguas Calientes is surrounded by jungle-covered mountains and cliffs, and the Urubamba River flows right by the town. Aguas Calientes is also surrounded by hot springs and when we arrive you will have plenty of time to relax and enjoy a dip in one of the steaming natural springs. You will also have time to walk around the city and explore the colorful markets and the general bustle of this unique Peruvian settlement.
It's an early start the next day, so we'll make sure you're settled in your hotel and all set for the next day and your first visit to Machu Picchu.

Day 3 — Visit Machu Picchu & Return to Cusco
To best appreciated Machu Picchu, we'll wake up early in the morning so we can get to the citadel in good time. You'll have time for breakfast first, and then your guide will pick you up from the hotel at around 5:40 a.m. Then we will walk to the starting point of the bus, a trip of approximately 45 minutes in the direction of the citadel of Machu Picchu.
We'll then pass through the gates into the Machu Picchu archaeological site. Here you'll begin your guided walking tour with an experienced and highly knowledgeable guide. Our tour of Machu Picchu will last about two hours and will take you to all the most famous and most spectacular parts of the extensive archaeological complex. These include the House of the Guardian, Intihuatana, Temple of the Sun, Sacred Plaza, and other key locations. (It will depend on the circuit that the Ministry of Culture determines) And as we walk around, we'll have spectacular views across the agriculture terraces of Machu Picchu and across to the surrounding mountains and plunging gorges.
Once we've finished our tour of Machu Picchu, we'll take the bus back down to Aguas Calientes where you can relax and have lunch (not included) before we board the train back to Poroy and Cusco. Upon arrival at the station, our staff will be waiting for you to take you back to your hotel in Cusco, a quick trip of approximately 25 minutes, where you will be able to remember your incredible tour of one of the most famous and impressive attractions in the world.

- Walking sticks and sleeping bags can be rented at our office.
- It's difficult to predict who will be affected by the altitude as your ability to adapt can vary from person to person. (We do recommend you undertake the trek in a good state of physical fitness.) Most of our travellers have no problem, as long as they take the time to acclimatize properly. For this purpose, we advise you to arrive 2 days prior to Cusco (3,400 m [11,154.86 ft.] above sea level) Also drink plenty of water. If you are still concerned about it, please visit your doctor before your trip.
- If you are bringing cash, please make sure to bring good bills. Bills cannot be torn, worn, or ripped because these won't be accepted. American dollars and Peruvian soles are very welcoming to use anywhere as you can use your credit card as well in most places.

- If you would like to get some soles, you can get good rates once in Peru.
- If you arrive on Sunday, please have Peruvian money before you leave the airport because on Sundays banks are not open.
- Please don't forget to bring the Andean migration card (TAM) with you, which you will receive when you enter to the country (an important document in order to don't charge the Peruvian taxes).
- If you have any special food restrictions (vegetarian option), please let us know in advance.
- As this trip is based on double occupancy (2 people per accommodation), we will provide twin tents.
- If you changed or still missing to provide us with your passport number, please send it to us as soon as you can.
- As gratuity is customary but 100% voluntary, we suggest bringing enough money to tip guides, drivers, transfers, and bellboys because they expect something from the visitors.
- Most clients ask about tipping at the end of their trek on the Inca Trail with Valencia. Tipping is of course 100% voluntary and it should only be done if you feel that your guide, porters and chefs have done an amazing job for you. Of course, we hope every trip we lead is a lifetime experience. If you choose to give a tip, we have some general guidelines on how much to give.
- Generally, on the Inca Trail, groups give collective tips that are shared between the cook and all porters including the head porter and are usually given on the last night of the trek. If the group pools together money and at the end each porter receives 60 soles and your cook receives double that, 120 soles, they will end with a great tip! Often, the tip for your guide is done personally and is generally 50 soles per traveller.
- Money for unforeseen matters: We suggest bringing 300 to 400 Peruvian soles per hiker for any situation that may happen along the Inca trail such as: abandon the Inca Trail for health emergencies (things that are not included in the itinerary…etc.) ; recommended tips; first-day breakfast and lunch on day 4th in Aguas Calientes.
