Day-by-day itinerary

    Day 1 — Punta Arenas

    Reception at Punta Arenas airport and transfer to your hotel.
    In the afternoon, city tour: the first location that we will visit is the Plaza de Armas and its monument of Hernando de Magallanes, inaugurated in 1920, this 10 mts high bronze statue represents the Portuguese explorer standing on a cannon and in its base of stone, you can find a Tehuelche Indian who symbolizes the Patagonia, a Selknam native, who represents Tierra del Fuego and a mermaid. Later, we will go to the Cerro de la Cruz lookout, to have a view of the city, the Bulnes Avenue and the Estrecho de Magellanes. Finally, we visit the Salesian Museum, considered one of the most completes museums of the Patagonia.

    Go back in time for 500 years in history when you visit this full-scale replica of Hernando Magellan's ship with an onboard experience through ambient sounds, replicas of everyday objects, navigation instruments and artillery.

    Bulnes Fort, or Strait Park, was the first settlement in Southern Chile founded in 1843 as a strategic point for the defense of the population, resulting in the subsequent founding of the city of Punta Arenas in 1848. The tour extends through this historical place, where we will discover every detail of its legacy and We will have free time to take photographs.

    On this guided tour of limited capacity, we will cross the Strait of Magellan until we reach Inútil Bay, an area of ​​recognized archaeological value in Tierra del Fuego, with human occupations dating back 6,000 years. The highest density of archaeological sites in the area is concentrated on the coast, with a total of 62 throughout Bahía Inútil, 12 of them in the area of ​​the King Penguin Nature Reserve (Aptenodytes patagonicus). This migratory bird, the second largest of the 18 species of penguins that exist in the world, moves from its breeding areas on sub-Antarctic islands to the circumpolar Antarctic waters in search of food.

    Magdalena Island welcomes more than 60,000 penguins each year and Marta Island is home to more than 1,500 sea lions. We begin with this unique adventure, heading towards Laredo Bay to embark to Magdalena Island, where we will disembark 1 hour later to discover the natural habitat of the Magellanic Penguins, in the largest colony in Chile. We continue our journey to Marta Island to spot sea lions, and if weather conditions allow, imperial cormorants and hundreds of southern gulls. After this, we will begin the trip back to Punta Arenas, where our activity ends.

    100 km north of Punta Arenas, our route is an unforgettable immersion into the extensive Patagonian pampa, subject to strong winds all year round and characterized by low temperatures and shrubby vegetation. Feel the unique experience of photographing species of wild birds and mammals in their natural environment such as: Guanacos, Culpeo and Gray Fox, Hares, Rheas, Flamingos, Black-necked Swans and other more discreet ones such as the Piche and Peludo Armadillo , the Chingue: the famous Condor, and other birds of prey such as Moras Eagles, etc.
    We will visit the largest condor colony in Chilean Patagonia, located 78 km from Punta Arenas, where after a light walk, we will reach the foot of the rock wall that serves as a refuge for the condors. An amazing journey through our wildlife!

    Cape Froward, the southernmost point of the Continental world, Glaciers, Humpback Whales, Sei Whales, Southern Dolphins, Toninas Overas, Magellanic Penguins are part of the natural wonders of this southern area of the Strait of Magellan and Tierra del Fuego.​ In one of the most remote and pristine places on the planet. A full day trip will make us feel nature in its most natural state, leaving very early from our offices, we will travel by bus to our embarkation 50 kilometers south of Punta Arenas, and then navigate for 10 hours: An unmissable journey where we can enjoy a unique landscape surrounded by mountains, glaciers and lengas and coihues forests. The marine life present in the area will not cease to surprise us due to its proximity and abundance: sea lions, petrels, cormorants, southern dolphins, etc. They will make us feel that nature is felt and lived here.​
    【Full Day Kayak with Whales (SIB)】

    Departures: (Dec / Mar) Scheduled dates, subject to weather conditions - meeting at 4:00 am.
    Includes: transfers from/to Punta Arenas, breakfast, lunch, coffee on board and Whiskey with ancient ice.
    We will leave from our meeting point very early in the morning on a 50 km journey south of Punta Arenas. This Kayak with Whales begins with a navigation to the point where we will disembark the kayaks, in order to be able to row with the humpback whales present in the place during the season. In the same way, within the Francisco Coloane Marine Park, we can see different animals such as sea lions, petrels, cormorants and southern dolphins, among others, all in the Patagonian landscape made up of mountains, glaciers and forests. After this, we will begin the trip back to Punta Arenas, where our activity ends.​

* Hotels: 7 days prior arrival, no charge, except:
- Cabo de Hornos: 4 days prior arrival in low season, and 17 days prior arrival in high season
- Kran Kreen: 16 days prior arrival
* Land Services: 18 days prior arrival.
* For special dates, you will be informed at the time of confirmation.
* You must be informed before the deadline indicated above (working days) in order to avoid the late cancellation fee.

  • During Christmas and New Year (Dec 25 and Jan 01), the services will have a surcharge of 50%.
  • Rates are subject to confirmation during holidays and long weekends (Easter, National Holidays Sep 18/19, Christmas and New Year's Eve, etc).
  • Itinerary could be changed according to flight schedules, climate conditions, or in order to provide a better service.
  • All excursions and navigations are subject to weather conditions.
  • In Patagonia, it is recommended to wear appropriate clothing to face rain, winds, and low temperatures.
  • Museums are closed on Mondays.
