Important info
Special notes
- Hotels are chosen closer to departure date. We do use a variety of hotels in each destination, so you may stay in a hotel different to that listed here.
- TRAVEL DOCUMENTS: Before you embark on your tour it is advisable to check your visa requirements. There are numerous visa service websites available online, but the most correct information will always be available from the relevant countries' embassy website. It is also highly recommended you visit your home country's foreign office website for the most up to date information your country is issuing about travelling abroad.
- Your Passport:
- This should be valid for at least six months after you have returned home from your trip. You should also have several blank pages as visas and entry/exit stamps can take up a whole page.
- Before starting your tour, it is very important to take 2 photocopies of the information pages of your passport (including visas for your tour, if applicable) and your travel insurance policy. Keep both sets with you (for example, one in your hand luggage and one in your main luggage).
- Your passport is your most valuable document when travelling. NEVER leave your passport unsecure; if you leave it in your luggage, make sure your luggage is secure. In cities, we suggest that you leave your passport in the hotel safe where available, and carry a photocopy of it as identification. Sometimes there may be a small charge to use the hotel safe. We accept no responsibility for money, passports or other valuables left in safe deposit boxes in our hotels or vehicles. If you do use the hotel safe, please do not forget to take it with you on the departure day.
- In some countries you will need to show your passport at police or border controls, when checking into hotels, changing money etc. If you lose your passport you must report it at once to your tour leader, the local police and the nearest embassy or consulate of your home country. Please remember that if your passport is lost, it can sometimes take weeks to replace. You will also be responsible for any expenses incurred (e.g. extra accommodation and transportation) while replacing your passport and will not be entitled for a refund of any unused portion of your tour. - Health & Fitness:
- We welcome all travellers on our tours but we would like to ensure that you are as comfortable as possible. In light of this, please ensure that you are happy with the below information and level of fitness required.
- The local operator tries to be as accommodating as possible, however, our tours are unfortunately not designed for people travelling with wheelchairs or severe mobility issues.
- Our tours are fast paced because they are designed for you to see the most a destination has to offer. We also want to ensure that you explore as much as possible, which may require long periods without stops on the coach as we drive to a new destination.
- We offer walking tours in most cities (up to 3 hours), and a wheelchair is not always a practical option as there are often cobbled streets and stairs on these tours.
- For travellers in wheelchairs, you will only be able to store your wheelchair under the coach with the other luggage. Thus, on the long drives between cities you will not necessarily have access to your wheelchair if we make a quick bathroom stop along the way. Please note that travelling with a wheelchair could prove difficult as our coaches don't have wheelchair lifts, as such you will need to be able to board and alight the coach on your own.
- With regards to our accommodation, not all hotels have lifts and this means potentially having to carry bags up and down stairs. - We highly recommend investing in a 'multi' or 'universal' travel adapter which will work in all major international regions. Although more expensive than a basic travel adapter designed for a single country/region, the key advantage is that they can be used for all of your future trips abroad, too.
- Tipping:
- Whilst we fully understand that some nationalities are not accustomed to tipping, this is a normal part of the culture in many of the countries we visit. Tipping has become an increasingly accepted practice in all areas of the service industry, but particularly in restaurants, bars and taxis worldwide.
- The crew members (your tour leader and driver) will transform your trip experience from just good, to exceptional, and where this is the case a tip (even a modest one) is always highly appreciated. They will be travelling with you from just a few days, up to a few weeks, and you'll soon become good friends. It is sometimes easy to forget that they work hard to ensure that you get a once in a lifetime experience.
- At the end of your tour you will have the opportunity to thank your tour leader and driver by offering them a tip. We suggest somewhere between £4-£6, €5-€7 or $6-$8 per person per day. Tipping is entirely voluntary and the above rate is offered as a suggested guide only.
- If you take a walking tour with a local guide, tipping these guides at the end of walking tours and excursions is always appreciated, but not expected. - Frequently Asked Questions
Are International flights included in the tour price?
- No, you will need to make your own arrangements to get to the meeting destination for the first day of your tour. Make sure you keep departure times and possible delays in mind when booking flights. Please click here to visit Skyscanner - a useful tool for comparing prices from the vast majority of airlines.
Is travel insurance compulsory?
- Yes, and you are responsible for arranging your own insurance. Passengers and their personal property travel with the local operator solely at their own risk. A suitable insurance policy should provide adequate cover for medical expenses arising through illness or accident prior to or during the holiday, and loss of holiday monies through cancellation or curtailment of the holiday or other insurable reasons. Clients should ensure that there are no exclusion clauses limiting protection for the type of activities in their tour.
For a relatively small price, travel insurance provides you with the peace of mind so that you can enjoy your tour without any worries.
Are yong children allowed?
- Our tours are not suitable for young children, so we set a minimum age limit of 10 years old. However, at the discretion of the local operator we may consider younger children on certain tours if they meet certain criteria and a request is received in writing via email for consideration. The local operator reserves the absolute right to accept or decline a booking at our discretion.
Who will be my tour leader?
- Our tour leaders come from all walks of life, with different backgrounds and interests. They are all confident and well-travelled with an in-depth knowledge of the destinations they are working in, and a passion for helping you make the most out of your tour.
- You will be emailed the name and contact details of your tour leader approximately one week before your tour start date. It is important that you keep a record of this number so that you can contact your tour leader if you have any issues when joining the tour or during the tour.
If I book a tour for two or more people, will we share the same room?
- When you book for more than one person, we will by default group you together in the same room(s), unless you request single supplements or specifically request us not to.
If there are unequal numbers (3, 5, 7 etc.) then the remaining traveller will be roomed with another passenger of the same gender. Please note that minors under the age of 18 cannot share with another traveller outside of your group's booking.
If you are making separate bookings and would like to share the same room(s), please send us an email with the booking references for each of the travellers and the details of your preferred rooming allocation.
Can I request a private room?
- Travellers have the option to pay a single supplement to ensure a private room (subject to availability).
What level of fitness do I need to participate in these tours?
- All travellers are required to carry their own bags. Our walking tours can last up to 3 hours and certain places involve walking up and down lots of steps. We want you to enjoy your tour, so read through the itinerary thoroughly and make your own conclusions as to whether you feel that you are fit and healthy enough.
What is the average age of your groups?
- We have a very wide range of ages on our tours, and do not restrict our passengers to certain age groups or limits. A positive attitude and an open mind are more important than a number!
How much spending money do I need for my holiday?
- This is up to you and will vary depending on how much you wish to spend on snacks, drinks, souvenirs etc. We do not include entrance fees to attractions and museums. We do, however, provide you with free time to see everything you want, and our tour leaders will have all the information on pricing and locations so you can manage your own budget. Please refer to your tours specific pre-departure information and optional excursions guide for further details.
Can I cater for my dietary requirements?
- Before the tour starts, you will receive an email from us requesting your dietary requirements. There is always a vegetarian option, which is a meal without meat. We try as much as we can to offer you the traditional local cuisine.
Are transfer included in the tour price?
- No, you will need to make your own arrangements to get to the meeting point for the first day of your tour. We have partnered with Welcome Pickups to secure a hassle-free service. You will be met at the arrivals gate by your driver. Your driver will track your flight, so they'll wait for you even if it's delayed.
How can I get the documents I need to apply for my visa?
- The local operator can provide travellers requiring visas with visa support documents on a request basis. Please note that you are required to pay for your tour in full in order to receive the documents. This is an embassy/consulate requirement by law. Once you have received confirmation that your booking has been paid in full, you can request your visa support documents by emailing us - please allow up to 10 working days to receive these documents.
Q: Do I need to change the money before the tour?
A: Please make sure, for the start of the tour, that you bring the local currency(ies) you will need for at least the first three days, as there may not be an opportunity to change currency at the very beginning of the tour. You should budget for any optional excursions you wish to do in this period and non-included meals.
We don't recommend carrying large amounts of cash with you on tour. You are better off withdrawing enough cash to last you for the next 5-7 days, rather than carrying enough cash to last you for the entirety of the tour.
Pricing notes (children, single supplement)
* Ages: 10 - 75+
* Prices will increase the nearer you come to the departure date and during peak season. Please book as early as possible to ensure the lowest rate.
* Please note, by default all rooms are twin bed rooms.
* Children On Tour: Our tours are not suitable for young children which is why we have a minimum age limit of 10 years old. However, at the discretion of the local operator we may consider younger children on certain tours if they meet certain criteria and a request is received in writing via email. Minors (between 10 and 18 years of age) must be accompanied by a parent or guardian who accepts full responsibility for them. Unaccompanied minors will not be accepted on tour. We reserve the right to decline any booking at our discretion.
* Partners: When you book for more than one person, we will by default group you together in a room (unless you specifically request us not to). If there are unequal numbers (3, 5, 7 etc.) and we are unable to secure a triple room then the remaining traveller will be roomed with another passenger of the same gender.
* Single Travellers: If you are travelling alone there is no compulsory charge - you will share a twin room with another passenger of the same gender. There is an optional single supplement/private room upgrade available for single travellers who wish to have a private room (subject to availability). This can be added by contacting our customer service team. Please note that the room provided may be a single room with a single bed.
* Triple Room requests: We love hosting families on tour and making amazing memories together. The request for triple rooms is therefore something that comes up frequently. However, it is not something that we offer. This is because many hotel partners do not offer triple rooms, and while they may be available in one location, triple rooms are not guaranteed to be available in all destinations. Where there is an uneven number of travellers in your group, we request that you please indicate as early as possible which travellers of the same gender will be sharing a room. Please take note that minors under the age of 18 cannot share with another traveller outside of your group's booking.
* Price Match Guarantee: If you find one of our tours at a lower price with an online travel agent, we'll match it. Email a screenshot and URL of the last step of the booking process to [email protected] within 24 hours of finding the lower price.
