Yogyakarta : Nepal Van Java & Adventure Elo River Rafting

Your journey will take you to an altitude of 1,620 meters above sea level in Butuh Hamlet, Temanggung Village, Kaliangkrik District, popularly known as the Nepal of Java. This nickname is given because of the view of the residents' houses, closely packed and stacked in terraces on the slopes of Mount Sumbing, creating a visual resemblance to villages on the Himalayan slopes of Nepal. Upon arrival, you'll be greeted by a stunning panorama of colorful residential areas against the majestic backdrop of Mount Sumbing.

This spot is highly Instagrammable from any angle, especially on a clear day. You can take a leisurely stroll through the village alleys, enjoying the cool, fresh mountain air. Experience the serenity of the countryside while interacting with the friendly locals.

You'll also have the opportunity to observe daily activities, such as growing vegetables in their lush gardens. Explore areas like Teras Nepal, Taman Depok, and around Gapura Dusun to capture the best views. It's recommended to visit in the morning (especially between May and September) for clear skies and the clearest view of Mount Sumbing.

After enjoying the beauty at the heights, it's time to come down to test your adrenaline by rafting on the Elo River. Your adventure will begin with a detailed safety briefing from a certified professional guide. You'll cover a 10-12 km rafting route that takes approximately 2.5 to 3 hours, depending on the water level.

During your journey, you'll be treated to beautiful views of verdant tropical forests, sprawling rice paddies, and cliffs along the riverbanks. The crystal clear waters of the Elo River (especially during the dry season) add to the thrill of the adventure. You'll experience a dynamic combination of currents, from gentle, flowing currents to small rapids that rock the boat, providing an exhilarating adrenaline rush.

There's usually a rest area midway through the journey, where you can enjoy a young coconut and traditional snacks before continuing the rest of the route to the end point (usually near Mendut Temple). Once finished, you will return to basecamp to clean up and enjoy a heavy meal which is usually included in the package.
