Kathmandu: Chulu West Peak Climbing Expedition Guided Trek

Embark on a thrilling 18-day expedition to Chulu West Peak, standing at 6,419 meters in the Annapurna region. Begin your journey in Kathmandu and make your way to Besi Sahar, where the adventure truly begins. Follow the Annapurna Circuit Trekking track into the Marsyangdi Valley, passing through stunning Gurung villages and breathtaking landscapes.

Depart from the Annapurna Circuit path at Yak Kharka and follow a yak track into a desolate, deserted area with sparse vegetation. Spend three nights in the Chulu Camps (one night at Base Camp, another night at High Camp, and a third night at Camp I) to allow for enough acclimatization and to practice some of the climbing skills required for the summit of Chulu West Peak. Establish at least one higher camp (Camp I) and traverse difficult terrain on ice and rocks.

The last, steady ascent to the peak is lengthy and taxing, particularly in soft snow. The initial portion of the ascent requires fixed ropes. Take in breathtaking views of the expansive Annapurna Himalayan range to the south and Tibet and China bordering Nepal to the north from the top.

Return to the (lower) high camp the following day after taking in the vista from the peak. Leave High Camp and make your way down to Thorang Phedi before beginning the next thrilling climb up to the 5,416-meter-high Thorung La Pass, which sits atop the fabled Tibetan plateau. Then, make your way down into the world’s deepest canyon, the Kali Gandaki Valley, to the well-known pilgrimage destination of Muktinath, home to several Buddhist and Hindu monasteries.
