About Annapurna Base Camp & Khopra Ridge Trek with Khayar Lake
This unique Himalayan trek combines the iconic Annapurna Base Camp with the quieter trails of Khopra Ridge and the sacred Khayar Lake, creating a diverse journey through some of the most beautiful landscapes of the Annapurna region. The adventure begins in Pokhara with a scenic drive and trek to Chhomrong, the gateway to the Annapurna Sanctuary. The trail follows the Modi Khola valley through bamboo forests and mountain settlements toward Deurali, gradually entering the alpine zone.
Trekkers continue past Machhapuchhre Base Camp before reaching Annapurna Base Camp (4,130 m), surrounded by the towering peaks of Annapurna I, Annapurna South, Hiunchuli, and Machhapuchhre. Sunrise here reveals one of the most spectacular mountain panoramas in Nepal. After descending through forest trails, the route moves onto quieter ridges toward Dobato and Muldai Viewpoint, offering sweeping views of the Annapurna & Dhaulagiri ranges.
The trek then follows the scenic Bayeli Kharka ridge to Khopra Ridge, known for its dramatic Himalayan views. A challenging hike leads to Khayar Lake (4,660 m), a sacred glacier-fed alpine lake. The journey finishes with a descent to Tatopani, where natural hot springs provide a relaxing end before returning to Pokhara.
