## Important general notes

- Every Nepali-language document MUST be accompanied by a notary-certified English translation — embassies will reject untranslated originals. Use a Nepal Bar Council–registered translator and have each translation notarised by a Notary Public.
- Spain has NO visa-issuing embassy in Nepal — the Honorary Consulate in Battisputali handles only notarial / consular assistance for Spanish citizens. Every Nepali Schengen AND national visa application is filed at BLS Spain Kathmandu (Baluwatar) and forwarded to the Embassy of Spain in New Delhi for adjudication.
- Effective 21 April 2025, Nepali ordinary passport holders MUST obtain an Airport Transit Visa (ATV) to transit through any Spanish airport — even when staying strictly inside the international transit zone. Diplomatic / official passport holders are exempt.
- Effective 4 March 2026, Indian citizens no longer need a Spanish ATV — but Nepali citizens DO. This is a Nepal-specific requirement.
- BLS service charge: INR 1,802 (incl. 18 % GST) per applicant — payable in cash or Demand Draft drawn in favour of "BLS International Services Ltd Spain Visa". Children under 6 are exempt from the service charge.
- Family of EU / EEA / Swiss citizens (spouse and children below 21 years of age) are GRATIS — the consular fee is waived. The BLS service fee of INR 1,802 still applies.
- Application form must be filled online from 4 November 2024 — handwritten forms are NOT accepted. Print and sign with a blue pen only.
- Lead time: applications can be filed up to 6 months before travel; minimum 15 calendar days before departure (less than 15 days requires signing a short-processing-time declaration).
- Schengen-approved travel medical insurance with minimum EUR 30,000 cover (incl. emergency repatriation) is mandatory and must be valid throughout the Schengen Area for the entire stay.
- Photo specifications: passport-size, white / off-white background, full face non-smiling, no sunglasses or hat (except religious / ethnic), colour, < 6 months old, printed on photographic paper (no scans / copies). Glue the photo onto the application form. Photo booth available at BLS Kathmandu.
- Applicant must be a permanent resident of Nepal for at least 6 months — applications cannot be processed from non-residents. Those studying / working outside their home country must apply from that country.

- Family-of-EU / EEA / Swiss citizen applicants can also submit directly at the Embassy in New Delhi by appointment via emb.nuevadelhi.vis@maec.es — instead of via BLS — to avoid the BLS service fee.
