## Overview

VFS Global India (visa.vfsglobal.com/ind/en/sur) handles only Suriname passport services, not visas. Suriname visas are applied for entirely online via the official VFS Global eVisa portal (suriname.vfsevisa.com), the 'Official and Authorized partner for the Government of the Republic of Suriname / Ministry of Foreign Affairs, International Business and Cooperation'; a mobile E-visa app was launched on 30 April 2025. India appears on the portal's 'eVisa Country List' (Tourist / Business / Transit / Short Stay, 90 Days; visa exemption only for Diplomatic, Service and Official passports), so Indian ordinary passport holders apply for an eVisa rather than the Entry Fee. Steps: upload passport bio page (OCR), complete online form and upload documents, pay the fee; approved eVisas are emailed. Tourist, business and transit visas are applied for only online (physical issuance at embassies, consulates and airport counters ended in 2019; no passport is submitted), and Indians use the eTourist Visa category, not the eTourist Card (Cuba, Dominican Republic and Venezuela only).

## Visa on arrival, eVisa and visa-free entry

- **Visa on arrival:** Not available: India has been on Suriname's visa-required list since 1 May 2023 and Suriname accepts visa applications only online (airport and embassy tourist-card counters closed in 2019), so Indians must get the eVisa before travel and show it with their passport on arrival.
- **eVisa / online visa:** Available: Indian ordinary passport holders apply online at https://suriname.vfsevisa.com for an eTourist Visa (USD 60 / EUR 50 for 3 months or USD 210 / EUR 175 for 1 year, multiple entry, plus USD 18 / EUR 17 VFS fee); maximum stay 90 days, normally issued within 72 hours and emailed as a PDF.
- **Visa-free entry:** Not available for ordinary passports: India is excluded from Suriname's unilateral visa abolition since 1 May 2023; only Indian diplomatic, service and official passport holders are visa-exempt.

### Work permit for foreign workers (employer-led One Stop Unit procedure) (Work)

Since November 2024 employers in Suriname (or their authorised representative) apply digitally for the worker's short-stay visa, authorisation for temporary stay (MKV) and work permit; a One Stop Unit lets the Foreign Affairs (BIBIS), Labour (AWJ) and Justice & Police ministries handle them at the same time, so employers know before departure whether the worker qualifies.

- Application lodged digitally by the employer or an authorised representative (not by the worker alone)
- One Stop Unit: BIBIS, AWJ and Justice & Police process the application simultaneously; the Central Bureau for Civil Affairs (CBB) is approached separately, and the worker reports to the Aliens Police on arrival
- Once AWJ has approved its part and the worker holds an MKV, the worker may start work immediately on arrival
- After arrival the employer or representative must still submit the documents in person at the Work Permits for Foreigners department so the Director of Labour can issue the actual work permit
- Ministry target: permits can be arranged within 21 days (October 2024 announcement)
