## Overview

Applications are processed by the Royal Norwegian Embassy in New Delhi, which handles applicants residing in India, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Maldives and Bhutan; documents and biometrics are submitted in person at VFS Global centres. You must first register the application and pay the visa fee online on the UDI Application Portal Norway, then book a VFS appointment (given within two weeks). Apply no later than 15 days (embassy recommends at least 4 weeks) and no earlier than six months before travel.

## Visa on arrival, eVisa and visa-free entry

- **Visa on arrival:** Not available: Indian passport holders must apply for a Schengen visitor's visa to Norway before travel (the Embassy states that citizens of India must apply for a visitor's visa); only Indian diplomatic passport holders on official travel to Norway are visa-exempt.
- **eVisa / online visa:** Not available: there is no Norway eVisa. You register the application and pay the visa fee online in the UDI Application Portal Norway, but must then hand in your passport and documents in person at a VFS Global centre, where fingerprints and photo are taken.
- **Visa-free entry:** Not available: citizens of India must apply for a visitor's (Schengen) visa to Norway; only Indian diplomatic passport holders travelling to Norway in an official capacity are visa-exempt (for travel between Norway and India only). Airport transit: Indians are not on the EU common list or Norway's national list of nationalities needing an airport transit visa (Visa Code Handbook Annexes 7A/7B, June 2026), so no visa is needed to stay inside the international transit area of a Norwegian airport.
