## Important general notes

- Every Nepali-language document MUST be accompanied by a notary-certified English translation — embassies will reject untranslated originals. Use a Nepal Bar Council–registered translator and have each translation notarised by a Notary Public.
- CRITICAL POLICY UPDATE: As of the current ImmD "Visit Visa / Entry Permit Requirements" table (updated November 2025, retrieved 25 April 2026), Nepal row 138 reads "Visa Required #". The 30-day visa-free arrangement that previously existed has been REMOVED / SUSPENDED. Nepali ordinary passport holders MUST obtain a visit visa for any entry — including tourism, business meetings, and even airside transit.
- Diplomatic / Official Nepali passport holders ONLY: 14-day visa-free entry permitted (per ImmD remark "#").
- Indian nationals are now the only South Asians with a special arrangement (PAR — Pre-Arrival Registration online, free) — Nepal NOT covered.
- Hong Kong eDeclaration (arrival card) does NOT replace the visa requirement — Nepalis still need a real visa endorsed before boarding.
- TTPS (Top Talent Pass Scheme) and QMAS (Quality Migrant Admission Scheme) EXPLICITLY EXCLUDE Nepali nationals (along with Afghanistan, Cuba, Laos, DPRK, Vietnam).
- Long-stay options open to Nepalis: GEP (General Employment Policy), IANG (Immigration Arrangements for Non-local Graduates), TechTAS (Technology Talent Admission Scheme), CIES (Capital Investment Entrant Scheme — HK$30M from Mar 2024 reboot), Student, Dependant, plus the upcoming Vocational Professionals Admission Scheme (mid-2026).
- Since 2022, ImmD issues e-Visa labels as PDF rather than passport stickers for many categories — print and present at airline check-in + HK arrival counter.
- Hong Kong Health & Quarantine Information Form (HQIF) — required online check-in 96 hours before departure for all arriving passengers (separate from visa).
- Application processing typically 4–6 weeks for visit; 4 weeks for GEP; 6 weeks for student/dependant.
- For Nepalis the practical channel is via CVASC Kathmandu (which forwards to ImmD), or by post / fax direct to ImmD Wan Chai.
