## Important general notes

- Every Nepali-language document MUST be accompanied by a notary-certified English translation — embassies will reject untranslated originals. Use a Nepal Bar Council–registered translator and have each translation notarised by a Notary Public.
- Income proof for Czech visas: ANY ONE of the four Nepal-side income bundles is sufficient (Business OR Salary OR Pension OR Rental) — pick the bundle matching your active income source.
- Czech Republic joined the Schengen Area on 21 December 2007. Short-stay Schengen visas (Type C) issued by Czech Republic are valid across all 29 Schengen states; Schengen visas issued by other members are valid for entry to Czech Republic under the same conditions.
- Holders of a valid multiple-entry Schengen Type C visa, an LTV with multi-entry, a Schengen Type D long-stay visa, or a Schengen residence permit DO NOT need a separate Czech visa for stays up to 90 days in any 180-day period.
- No Czech diplomatic mission in Nepal — Nepali applicants MUST travel to India to submit at one of the six VFS Czech India VACs. Embassy of the Czech Republic in New Delhi adjudicates short-stay; long-stay (Type D, employment card, blue card) is decided by Czech MoI / MoLSA in Prague after MoI clearance.
- Biometrics (fingerprints + photo) are mandatory for first-time Schengen applicants and are valid for 5 years across all Schengen member-state visa applications. Re-collected only after the 5-year window or if the IT system rejects the prior capture.
- Schengen-approved travel medical insurance with minimum EUR 30,000 cover (incl. emergency repatriation + urgent hospitalisation) is mandatory and must be valid throughout the Schengen Area for the entire stay. Czech Republic accepts policies from any insurer on the Schengen-approved list — no Czech-insurer requirement for Type C.
- For long-stay (Type D) visas, health insurance must be from a Czech insurer OR from a foreign insurer recognised by the Czech MoI — different list from Type C. Insurance must cover minimum EUR 60,000 per claim AND at least 30 % co-payment, with no exclusions for pre-existing conditions.
- All non-English / non-Czech documents must be translated into Czech (preferred) or English by a Nepal MoFA-recognised translator and apostilled / super-legalised through the Czech Embassy Delhi consular legalisation process. For Type D documents, Apostille via Hague Convention apply (Nepal joined the Hague Apostille Convention on 14 March 2024 — official certificates issued after that date can be apostilled by Nepal MoFA without further legalisation).
- Long-stay (Type D) appointments at VFS Czech India have historically been very scarce — bookings open via Visapoint with limited monthly quotas. Plan 6+ months ahead for student / employment Type D applications.
- Czech Employee Card (zaměstnanecká karta) is the standard work permit — combines work authorisation + residence permit in one document. Issued for the duration of the employment contract, max 2 years initially, renewable.
- Czech Blue Card (modrá karta) is the EU Blue Card variant for highly-qualified workers — minimum gross annual salary of 1.5 × Czech average gross wage (≈ CZK 60,000+/month gross in 2026). Faster processing (~60 days) than standard Employee Card.
- Common refusal patterns for Nepal: weak ties to Nepal (no property / business / family obligation), unexplained funds, vague itinerary, undisclosed prior Schengen / UK / US refusals, applicants under 30 without dependants. Czech consular officers also scrutinise authenticity of Nepali educational documents heavily — Tribhuvan University verification recommended.
- Czech Republic uses CZK (Czech Koruna) NOT euro despite EU membership — adoption of euro is not on the political agenda for the foreseeable future.
