## Important general notes

- Every Nepali-language document MUST be accompanied by a notary-certified English translation — embassies will reject untranslated originals. Use a Nepal Bar Council–registered translator and have each translation notarised by a Notary Public.
- Income proof for Cypriot visas: ANY ONE of the four Nepal-side income bundles is sufficient (Business OR Salary OR Pension OR Rental) — pick the bundle matching your active income source.
- Cyprus is NOT in the Schengen Area — it issues NATIONAL visas, NOT Schengen Type C. A Cypriot visa does not allow travel to other Schengen countries, and a Schengen visa from another member does not automatically grant Cyprus entry.
- BUT — under EU Council Decision 565/2014, holders of a valid multiple-entry Schengen Type C visa (2+ entries), a Schengen Type D long-stay visa, an LTV with multi-entry, or a valid Schengen residence permit DO NOT need a Cypriot visa for stays up to 90 days in any 180-day period. Carry the original Schengen document at port of entry.
- No Cypriot diplomatic mission in Nepal — Nepali applicants MUST travel to India to submit at one of the five VFS Cyprus India VACs (Delhi / Mumbai / Bangalore / Chennai / Kolkata). High Commission of Cyprus in New Delhi adjudicates.
- Biometrics are NOT yet mandatory for Cypriot short-stay visas (Cyprus is not Schengen). Biometric collection will become mandatory once Cyprus joins the Schengen Information System (SIS) — currently deferred beyond 2027.
- Travel medical insurance is mandatory: minimum EUR 30,000 cover including emergency hospitalisation + repatriation, valid for the entire stay in Cyprus. Schengen-template policies are accepted.
- All non-English documents must be translated into English by a Nepal MoFA-recognised translator and notarised. Cypriot consular officials accept English documentation directly.
- Cyprus has separate procedures for Northern Cyprus (Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus / TRNC — only recognised by Turkey). A Republic of Cyprus visa permits entry through any of the legal southern crossing points: Larnaca / Paphos airports, Limassol port, Pergamos / Strovilia / Astromeritis crossings. Entry through Ercan / Geçitkale (TRNC) is illegal under Republic of Cyprus law and may trigger entry ban.
- Long-stay (> 90 days) for study, work, or family reunion is a two-step process: (1) the inviter / employer / institution in Cyprus initiates a Pro-Visa application at the Cypriot Civil Registry & Migration Department; (2) once Pro-Visa is approved, applicant collects the entry visa from the High Commission in New Delhi.
- Pink Slip (Temporary Residence Permit) is issued IN CYPRUS by the Civil Registry & Migration Department after arrival on a Pro-Visa — valid 1 year, renewable up to 4 times for non-EU nationals.
- Cyprus offers a Permanent Residence by Investment route (Category 6.2): minimum EUR 300,000 in residential property + bank deposit of EUR 30,000 for 3 years. Approved within ~2 months by the Council of Ministers.
- Common refusal patterns for Nepal: weak ties to Nepal (no property / business / family obligation), unexplained funds, vague itinerary, undisclosed prior Schengen / UK / US refusals, single applicants under 30 without dependants. Cyprus high commissioners scrutinise Nepali files heavily for misuse risk.
