## Important general notes

- Every Nepali-language document MUST be accompanied by a notary-certified English translation — embassies will reject untranslated originals. Use a Nepal Bar Council–registered translator and have each translation notarised by a Notary Public.
- Income proof for Croatian visas: ANY ONE of the four Nepal-side income bundles is sufficient (Business OR Salary OR Pension OR Rental) — pick the bundle matching your active income source. Croatia (now Schengen) follows the standard Schengen evidentiary expectations.
- Croatia joined the Schengen Area on 1 January 2023. Short-stay Schengen visas (Type C) issued by Croatia are valid across all 29 Schengen states; Schengen visas issued by other members are valid for entry to Croatia under the same conditions.
- Holders of a valid multiple-entry Schengen Type C visa, an LTV with multi-entry, a Schengen Type D long-stay visa, or a Schengen residence permit DO NOT need a separate Croatian visa for stays up to 90 days in any 180-day period — the existing Schengen document covers Croatia as well.
- Submit applications at least 15 days before travel — earlier filing accepted up to 6 months before departure. Tourist applications submitted < 15 days before travel are NOT accepted by the VAC and you must reschedule.
- Schengen-approved travel medical insurance with minimum EUR 30,000 cover (incl. emergency repatriation + urgent hospitalisation) is mandatory and must be valid throughout the Schengen Area for the entire stay. Multiple-entry visa holders need insurance covering at least the first visit + a written acknowledgement of insurance for subsequent visits.
- Biometrics (fingerprints + photo) are mandatory for first-time Schengen applicants and are valid for 5 years across all Schengen member-state visa applications. Re-collected only after the 5-year window or if the IT system rejects the prior capture.
- Application form is filled online at crovisa.mvep.hr (Croatian MFA portal) — printed, signed in field 37 + final field, then submitted in person at VFS Kathmandu. VFS keeps blank paper forms at the counter as a fallback.
- All non-English documents must be translated into English (or Croatian) by a Nepal MoFA-recognised translator and notarised. Most supporting documents must be ≤ 6 months old (≤ 3 months for Official Visit category).
- Cancellation of accommodation after the visa is issued may lead to revocation of the visa — keep the booking valid until the trip ends, or update VFS / Embassy if dates change.
- A short-stay (Type C) visa does NOT permit work in Croatia. For employment, apply for a Work and Residence Permit through the Ministry of Interior of Croatia (no VAC for this — direct to MUP / Croatian Embassy Delhi).
- An issued visa is not a guarantee of entry — Croatian Border Police make the final admissibility decision at the port of entry. Carry the full document set in hand luggage.
- For long-stay (Type D, > 90 days — study, work, family reunion), file directly at the Embassy of Croatia in New Delhi. VFS Kathmandu does not handle Type D applications.
- ETIAS (European Travel Information and Authorisation System) — when launched, will apply to visa-EXEMPT nationals, NOT to Nepalis (who already need a visa). Nepali Schengen visa applicants are not affected.
- Common refusal patterns for Nepal: weak ties (no property / business / family obligation in Nepal), unexplained large recent deposits, vague itinerary, undisclosed prior Schengen / UK / US refusals, single applicants under 30 without dependants.
