Depart from Kathmandu and head to the Namo Buddha Stupa, located about 40 kilometers southeast of the city. Learn about the spiritual significance of the stupa, which is one of the most important pilgrimage sites in Nepal, especially for Tibetan Buddhists.

Hear the story of how the Buddha, in a previous life as a prince, offered his body to a starving tigress and her cubs out of compassion. See the stupa that marks the sacred spot where the prince’s act of selflessness occurred.

Take in the panoramic views of the Himalayas and the surrounding valley from the hilltop location. Continue to the Thrangu Tashi Yangtse Monastery, a large Tibetan Buddhist monastery belonging to the Kagyu tradition, founded by Khenchen Thrangu Rinpoche.
