Step back in time as you explore Tansen, a beautifully preserved hill town once ruled by the Magar kings of the ancient Palpa Kingdom. Located between Pokhara and Lumbini, Tansen offers a refreshing blend of culture, history, architecture, and breathtaking viewpoints rarely visited by mainstream tourists.

This sightseeing tour begins in Tansen Old Bazaar, where narrow lanes, traditional wooden windows, brick houses, and lively shops create a timeless atmosphere. Visit Tansen Durbar, an impressive palace built in 1927 that served as the administrative center of the region. Learn about Palpa’s history, craft traditions, and former royal families.

Continue through heritage streets to visit Amar Narayan Temple, Ranighat temples, old water spouts, and artisan areas. Then drive to the magnificent Rani Mahal, often called “Nepal’s Taj Mahal”, built on the banks of the Kali Gandaki River as a symbol of love by a Palpa governor in 1893. Full Itinerary:
Day 1: Kathmandu to Tansen
Your journey begins with a scenic drive from Kathmandu toward the historic hill town of Tansen. Travel along the Prithvi Highway with views of rivers, mountains, and countryside villages. After arriving in Tansen, take an easy walk through the Old Bazaar to get a first impression of its traditional houses and charming streets. Overnight in Tansen.

Day 2: Tansen Old Town & Rani Mahal Sightseeing
After breakfast, start a guided heritage walk through Tansen’s narrow lanes and visit key landmarks such as Tansen Durbar, Sitalpati, and Amar Narayan Temple. Continue to Rani Mahal, a beautiful riverside palace often called the “Taj Mahal of Nepal.” Later in the afternoon, visit Srinagar Hill for panoramic mountain and valley views before returning to your hotel. Overnight in Tansen.

Day 3: Tansen to Kathmandu
