Applications are submitted personally at a VFS Global centre in either case. Travel agents may not submit Schengen applications for you, and fingerprints are taken from every applicant aged 12 and above.

### Do Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Odisha go to Mumbai?
No. All three are on the Embassy of Poland's list, so their residents fall under New Delhi. The Consulate General in Mumbai takes only the western and southern states shown above, plus Andaman and Nicobar. If you moved recently between, say, Indore and Ahmedabad, the mission follows your current place of residence, which you will need to prove for a national visa.

Poland runs 10 VFS centres: Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Chandigarh, Chennai, Hyderabad, Jaipur, Kolkata, Lucknow, Mumbai and New Delhi. Files from the satellite centres travel to New Delhi or Mumbai, which adds 48-72 hours to processing. Centres open Monday to Friday, mostly 09:00-16:00; Bengaluru opens 08:00-16:00 and Chennai 08:00-15:00.

### When do appointment slots open for each mission?
Your jurisdiction also decides when you can grab a slot. The release pattern differs sharply between the two missions:

VisaEmbassy, New DelhiConsulate General, MumbaiSchengen (C) visa, booked on the VFS websiteSlots released every Wednesday at 11:00Released once a month, two months in advanceNational (D) work visa, via e-KonsulatElectronic draw every Monday at 10:00Electronic draw every two weeks on Thursday at 10:30National (D) study visa, via e-KonsulatSlots by order of registration, Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday at 10:00Every two weeks on Wednesday at 10:30For a Schengen visa you also fill the online form at eforms.vfsglobal.com and carry the printed form to the centre. The VFS service fee of INR 1026 is paid online when you book.

### What residence proof do work and study applicants need?
National (D) visa checklists ask you to prove that you live in the mission's jurisdiction. The work checklist asks for an ID confirming legal residence in the Embassy's or Consulate's jurisdiction. The checklist for other national visas gives a passport or Aadhaar as examples.

In practice, the address on that ID should match the mission you book with. If your passport shows an old address in another jurisdiction, carry a current document that shows where you live now.

The national visa fee is INR 21120 / EUR 200 at both missions, under the consular fee table effective 1 January 2026. A Schengen (C) visa costs INR 9504 / EUR 90 for adults and INR 4752 / EUR 45 for children aged 6-12.

### What if your territory is missing from both lists?
Lakshadweep is not listed in the area covered by either the Embassy in New Delhi or the Consulate General in Mumbai. The Union Territory of Chandigarh is not named separately either, although VFS runs a Chandigarh centre. If you live in either territory, email the consular section before booking and keep the reply with your file.

Only the consul decides.

European Commission data gives a single figure for Polish consulates in India combined, not per mission: a 17.0% refusal rate for short-stay Schengen applications in 2025, with 1,640 visas not issued and 9,673 applications lodged (19.0% in 2024). It describes past decisions and predicts nothing about an individual file.

### Before you book: a jurisdiction check
- Find your state in the table and note the mission.
- Pick a VFS centre that serves that mission.
- For work or study visas, register on e-Konsulat and keep an address proof for the same jurisdiction.
- Note the slot release day for your mission, and plan to apply no earlier than 6 months and, as a rule, no later than 15 calendar days before travel.
- Use a verifiable flight reservation in the file rather than a non-refundable ticket.
