## TL;DR

Thai visas for applicants in India are applied for online at thaievisa.go.th; the Royal Thai Embassy in New Delhi made this mandatory from 1 January 2025. You upload your passport, photo and documents, pay offline (INR 3,000 for a single-entry tourist visa) and receive the e-Visa by email in about 14 working days after the fee is received.

## Key takeaways

- All Thai visa applications from India go through thaievisa.go.th since 1 January 2025; only the Privilege Entry Visa is handled outside the e-Visa.
- A single-entry tourist e-Visa (TR) costs INR 3,000, with 3 months validity and a 60-day stay.
- The Embassy's stated processing time is about 14 working days from receipt of the fee payment.
- You must be physically present in India for the whole process and apply to the mission covering your location.
- Trips of up to 30 days for tourism or short-term business need no visa under the exemption effective 15 September 2026.

The process below follows the Embassy's e-Visa FAQ and its 'common mistakes' note, both dated September 2026, as published on the official sources, checked on 15 October 2026. Fees, centres and long-stay routes are on our Thailand visa page for Indians.

### Do you need a Thai e-Visa for a short holiday?
Often you do not. The Royal Thai Embassy in New Delhi says Indian ordinary passport holders may enter Thailand visa-free for up to 30 days for tourism and short-term business, effective from 15 September 2026 until further announcement. Visa on Arrival is not an option for Indians: under the same scheme it covers only Azerbaijan, Belarus and Serbia.

You need the e-Visa when your stay is longer than 30 days, or when your purpose is outside tourism and short business: study, employment, retirement, family or the Destination Thailand Visa. Every traveller, visa or not, must also complete the free Thailand Digital Arrival Card, which foreigners submit 3 days before arrival.

### Which Thai mission will process your e-Visa?
The e-Visa portal is shared, but the decision is made by the mission covering where you are physically located in India. The Embassy says visas are issued only to applicants present in India throughout the e-Visa process, and it asks for proof of current location such as a house agreement, Aadhaar card or monthly electricity bill.

### How do you fill in the application on thaievisa.go.th?
- Create an account. Register with your email address and verify it. One account can hold up to 10 applications at a time for you and your family, and can be reused for later trips.
- Check eligibility and pick the category. For a holiday that is TR (tourist); for medical treatment, MT; for transit, TS, S or C; for longer purposes, a Non-immigrant category such as B, ED or O.
- Upload your passport bio page and photo. The photo must be in colour, 630 x 810 pixels, ICAO standard, head and top of shoulders with the face filling 80-85% of the frame, on a plain white background, taken within the last 6 months, JPG or JPEG up to 3 MB.
- Enter personal and travel details. Type your given name and surname exactly as in the passport and leave the middle-name field blank.
- Upload supporting documents for your category (see the next section).
- Pay the fee by the method your mission accepts.
- Track and print. Log in to see the status. The granted e-Visa arrives by email; print it and show the paper copy at airline check-in and to Thai immigration, because copies on phones are not accepted.
You may apply yourself or through a processing company such as VFS Global, BLS International or DU Digital, or a travel agent. The Embassy says it is not responsible for incomplete applications filed by representatives.

### Which documents should a tourist upload?
The Embassy and Consulate checklists overlap on these items for a TR visa:

- Passport valid for not less than 6 months, with two blank pages.
- Copy of a confirmed return ticket and a confirmed hotel reservation in your name, or an invitation letter with the host's ID if you stay with relatives or friends.
- Six months of bank statements; the Kolkata checklist sets a minimum current balance equivalent to USD 700 per person or USD 1400 per family.
- Evidence of employment and regular income, such as ITR, an employment letter, payslips or business registration.
- A copy of your last Thai visa and immigration stamp, if any.
- If a family member sponsors the trip, their cover letter and passport copy.
The Embassy may still ask for more documents or an interview.

Payment happens outside the portal. The Embassy in New Delhi accepts no cash: you pay by bank transfer or UPI to its DBS Bank account, or by cash deposit at a DBS branch, then email the payment slip and the Payment Info Summary to the address given in the Embassy's FAQ. Fees are non-refundable in all circumstances, including when you withdraw an e-Visa application.

### How long does processing take after you pay?
The Embassy gives approximately 14 working days from the date it receives the fee payment, for all visa types. The Consulate-General in Kolkata uses the same 14 working days, counted from the date it issues the fee receipt, and requires the fee within 14 days of submitting a complete application. Pay promptly: the clock does not start until the money is received.

- Arriving at the airport with only a phone copy of the e-Visa.
