## Article

Singapore's process is unusual: there is no VFS centre, and the High Commission in New Delhi and the Consulates-General in Mumbai and Chennai do not accept walk-in applications. This guide walks through each step as published on the official sources, checked on 15 October 2026.

### Do Indians need a visa for Singapore?
Yes. Holders of ordinary Indian passports must obtain a Singapore entry visa before travelling, and there is no visa on arrival. Holders of Indian diplomatic, official and service passports do not need a visa.

The one exception is transit. Under the 96-hour Visa Free Transit Facility, an Indian travelling to or from a third country may enter without a visa if they hold an onward air, ferry or cruise ticket departing within 96 hours and a visa or long-term pass, valid at least 1 month from entry, issued by Australia, Canada, Germany, Japan, New Zealand, Switzerland, the United Kingdom or the USA. Schengen visas good for Germany or Switzerland count. Extensions are not allowed.

If you stay inside the Changi transit area with onward boarding passes, you do not clear immigration. Travellers who clear immigration, often when connecting to a low-cost carrier, must meet entry rules.

### How do you apply for a Singapore visa from India, step by step?
- Pick the right mission. Your state decides whether the High Commission in New Delhi or the Consulate-General in Mumbai or Chennai handles your file (see the table below).
- Choose an Authorised Visa Agent. Only agents on the mission's AVA list can file your application. The New Delhi list names agents in Delhi NCR, Kolkata, Lucknow, Jaipur, Ludhiana, Amritsar, Chandigarh and Ambala; Chennai's agents are in Chennai, Bengaluru and Hyderabad.
- Fill Form 14A completely and sign it. Chennai specifies that every column and blank space must be filled.
- Hand over documents and fees to the agent: the visa processing fee and the agent's service fee.
- The agent files online in ICA's e-Visa system and gives you a reference number, for example one starting DEL...SA....
- Track and print the e-Visa on ICA's status enquiry page using that reference number and your passport number.
A second route exists: a local contact or strategic partner in Singapore (a local sponsor with Singpass) can submit online on your behalf, paying SGD 30 by Visa or MasterCard. ICA says these applications are processed within three working days, excluding the day of submission.

### Which documents go with Form 14A?
- Form 14A, duly completed and signed by you.
- Valid passport with at least six months validity on the date of entry, plus a photocopy of the biodata page (Chennai also asks for the last page).
- Two passport-sized colour photographs taken within the last three months (Mumbai asks for one): 35 mm wide by 45 mm high, plain white background without shadows, no borders.
- Form V39A Letter of Introduction from a local contact (a Singapore citizen or PR aged 21 or above), only when required case by case. For a business visit, the contact must act for the Singapore-registered business.
- Any additional supporting documents asked for case by case. Documents in Hindi must be translated into English.
The missions do not publish a fixed list of ITRs, salary slips or minimum bank balance for visit visas. Still, ICA officers at the checkpoint decide admission, and they expect a valid passport, sufficient funds for the stay and a confirmed onward or return air ticket where applicable. Carry those even if your agent did not ask for them.

Ladakh, Chandigarh, Andaman and Nicobar Islands and Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu are not named in any list, so ask an agent if you live there.

### What happens after your visa is approved?
- Validity is not stay. The visa's validity is the window in which you may seek entry. ICA officers decide your length of stay at the checkpoint and send a digital visit pass (e-Pass) to the email you gave in the SG Arrival Card.
- Single or multiple journey. A single journey visa works once; a multiple journey visa works any number of times within its validity.
- Travel date counts. If you enter within the validity, you do not need a new visa even if it expires before you return.
- No amendments. Validity cannot be extended or changed, and a visa cannot move to a new passport.
- Extending your stay. Mumbai advises applying to ICA at least 5 working days before your visit pass expires.

### What should you do if the application is delayed or refused?
Incomplete forms or documents can lead to rejection or delay, and each application is considered on its own merits. Mumbai advises applying within 30 days before arrival. Chennai suggests at least one week ahead in the off-peak season and two to four weeks ahead in the March to May peak.

If refused, you can appeal within one month through the same agent that filed the application; Chennai says appeals generally take 14 working days. ICA does not disclose rejection reasons.
