### How much money should your statements show?
The checklist does not print a fixed minimum balance. The European Commission's table of reference amounts for crossing the external border, dated 8 June 2026, lists Portugal's means of subsistence as EUR 75 for each entry and EUR 40 for each day spent in Portugal. Multiply the daily figure by the length of your stay, add the entry amount, and make sure your statements comfortably cover your flights, hotels and daily costs on top of that.

- Minors: an apostilled birth certificate, the mandatory consent form, notarised parental consent and copies of the parents' ID.
- Visiting family or friends: the host's Termo de Responsabilidade certified by a Portuguese notary or lawyer, the host's Portuguese ID, passport or residence permit copy, and proof of relationship where relevant.
