## TL;DR

Norway charges Indian tourists EUR 90 per adult and EUR 45 per child aged 6 to under 12; children under 6 pay nothing. Family members of EU/EEA citizens applying as such are exempt. You pay online in the UDI Application Portal Norway, and VFS adds a service fee quoted as EUR 08 by VFS and EUR 20 by the Embassy.

## Key takeaways

- Adults pay EUR 90; children aged 6 to under 12 pay EUR 45; children under 6 pay no fee.
- Family members of EU/EEA citizens applying as such pay no visa fee.
- Indian official passport holders on official travel may have the fee waived (refunded); diplomatic passport holders on official travel are visa-exempt.
- The visa fee is paid online in the UDI Application Portal Norway; no official INR amount is published.
- VFS service fee: EUR 08 on VFS India pages, EUR 20 per applicant on the Embassy pages.

**According to the Royal Norwegian Embassy in New Delhi, the Norway tourist visa fee is EUR 90 for adults and EUR 45 for children aged 6 to under 12, while children under 6 pay nothing. Family members of EU/EEA citizens applying as such are also fee-exempt. You pay online when registering in the UDI Application Portal Norway.**

## Article

For a family trip, the bill depends on each traveller's age and status, plus a VFS service fee that two official sources quote differently. The Embassy in New Delhi decides applications from residents of India, Nepal, Sri Lanka, the Maldives and Bhutan, and all fees are published in euro. Everything here is as published on the official sources, checked on 15 October 2026. For documents and the full process, see our Norway visa guide for Indians.

### How much does each traveller pay?

### When does a child move from free to half fee?
The Embassy uses two child bands. Under 6, there is no fee. From 6 to under 12, the fee is EUR 45. Once a child is outside both bands, the adult fee of EUR 90 applies. The age bands are not the only child rule: every applicant under 18 needs a legalised consent letter from both parents (or from the other parent), or a certificate of single custody.

### Who is exempt, and how do you claim it?
The exemptions are narrow. Children under 6 are exempt automatically. Family members of EU/EEA citizens are exempt only when they apply in that category, which is a separate option on the visa list. Indian official passport holders travelling in an official capacity may have the fee waived, and the Embassy calls this a refund. Indian diplomatic passport holders on official travel to Norway do not need a visa at all.

Ordinary tourists, business travellers and people visiting family or friends who are not EU/EEA family members pay the standard fee for their age band. A group tour of up to 16 travellers can be registered together as a 'visa group' by the travel agency, but the published fees are still set per adult and per child.

### Where and when do you pay the fee?
Norway's sequence differs from most Schengen countries. You first register the application and pay the visa fee online in the UDI Application Portal Norway. Only then do you book a VFS appointment, which is given within two weeks. At the appointment you hand in the signed application printout, documents and passport, and your fingerprints are taken unless they were collected in the last 59 months.

Apply no earlier than six months and no later than 15 days before travel; the Embassy recommends at least 4 weeks. No official rupee amount exists for the visa fee, the residence-permit fees or the VFS charges.

### What does VFS charge on top?
Two official pages disagree. VFS India's Norway pages state a service fee of EUR 08, while the Embassy's visa pages state EUR 20 per applicant, paid at the VFS counter. Budget for the higher figure until VFS confirms. Optional VFS services, all in euro:

- Courier EUR 9.9; SMS EUR 5.5.
- Premium Lounge EUR 48.3; Prime Time Submission EUR 44; Prime Time Pass back EUR 12.
- Photocopy EUR 0.2; Photobooth EUR 2.35; Printing EUR 1.
- Passport resubmission by courier EUR 5.60 at Mumbai, Bengaluru, Chennai, Kolkata and Chandigarh, if your passport was returned during processing.

### What else should a Norway tourist budget cover?
- Travel medical insurance valid across Schengen with at least EUR 30,000 cover, including repatriation; buy it in India as a rule, from VFS's approved list.
- Funds for the stay: if you can document at least NOK 500 per day per person, for example with a bank statement or wage specification for the past six months, no sponsorship form is needed.
- Flights: a confirmed round-trip booking with fixed dates of up to 90 days. The Embassy advises not to buy the ticket until the visa is granted.

### Before you pay: quick checks
- Register under the right category, especially if you qualify as an EU/EEA family member.
- Expect a decision in normally 15 days, up to 45 calendar days if the case needs more scrutiny or referral to UDI.
- Do not follow up before 15 days from receipt; check the VFS website instead.
- If refused, you receive a written explanation and can appeal, but appeals take more than 3 months.
European Commission data put the refusal rate for Schengen applications lodged at Norwegian consulates in India at 14.7% in 2025, with 4,264 visas not issued and 29,104 applications lodged; the figure covers all purposes.
