## TL;DR

Indian ordinary passport holders must buy a Suriname eVisa online: USD 60 (EUR 50) for a three-month multiple-entry eTourist Visa or USD 210 (EUR 175) for one year, plus a USD 18 (EUR 17) VFS service fee. Business eVisas cost USD 100 or USD 360, and all fees are non-refundable. Approved eVisas normally arrive within 72 hours.

## Key takeaways

- eTourist Visa: USD 60 / EUR 50 for 3 months or USD 210 / EUR 175 for 1 year, multiple entry, maximum stay 90 days.
- Every eVisa and Short Stay (MKV) application adds a USD 18 / EUR 17 VFS service fee.
- Infants, minors and adults pay the same fee; visa and service fees are non-refundable.
- Indians are not on the Entry Fee list, so the USD 50 Entry Fee does not apply to them.
- Processing is up to 72 hours from payment; no official rupee prices are published.

**According to Suriname's official VFS Global eVisa portal, an Indian citizen pays USD 60 (EUR 50) for a three-month multiple-entry eTourist Visa, or USD 210 (EUR 175) for one year, plus a USD 18 (EUR 17) VFS service fee. Both fees are paid online and are non-refundable.**

## Article

Suriname has no visa counter in India and no visa on arrival, so the online eVisa is the only way for most Indian travellers. All amounts below are as published on the official sources, checked on 2026-10-15. For documents and the full application process, see our Suriname visa guide for Indians.

### How much does each Suriname eVisa cost?
The fee depends on the purpose and the validity you choose. The VFS service fee is the same for each application.

Each stay is still capped at 90 days, whichever validity you buy.

### Why do Indians pay for an eVisa and not the Entry Fee?
Suriname runs three separate schemes, and Indian ordinary passports fall under only one of them.

- eVisa (eTourist Visa): India is on the portal's eVisa country list. This is your category.
- Entry Fee: USD 50 (Euro 50), effective 15 May 2024, for nationalities on the Entry Fee list. India is not on that list.
- eTourist Card: only for nationals of Cuba, the Dominican Republic and Venezuela.
India was excluded from Suriname's unilateral visa abolition from 1 May 2023, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Only Indian diplomatic, service and official passport holders are visa-exempt. If a website offers Indians the Entry Fee or the eTourist Card, it is the wrong category.

### Can you pay in rupees, and is any of it refunded?
The portal publishes fees in USD and EUR only; there is no official rupee price. You pay the visa fee and the VFS service fee together online, at the end of the application. Check the final amount on the payment screen before confirming.

Two rules matter for your budget:

- No discount for children. The eTourist Visa costs the same for infants, minors and adults, so a family of four pays four visa fees and four service fees.
- No refunds. Both the visa fee and the VFS service fee are non-refundable, including if your application is refused.

### What do work and residence permits cost?
People who have a job or professional engagement in Suriname apply online for a Short Stay (MKV) – Labour, at USD 45 / EUR 40 plus the USD 18 / EUR 17 service fee. 'Short Stay – Easy Procedure' has the same fee.

Since November 2024, employers in Suriname apply digitally for the worker's short-stay visa, MKV and work permit through a One Stop Unit. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs says this makes it possible to arrange permits within 21 days, a target from its October 2024 announcement. The Ministry of Labour's work permit fee was not published on the pages read.

A residence permit, decided by the Ministry of Justice and Police in Suriname, needs a deposit receipt of USD 150 or the SRD equivalent at the Central Bank of Suriname daily rate.

### How fast is it, and what slows it down?
The portal says eVisa and MKV applications are processed within up to 72 hours from payment, provided all documents are submitted correctly. If it takes longer than 5 working days, contact VFS. Processing can take longer during Suriname public holidays and closures, so do not pay the night before your flight.

The approved eVisa arrives by email as a PDF. You do not submit your passport. Print the eVisa, show it with your passport at immigration and fill in the online Immigration and Customs Form (ICF).

### Which costs sit outside the visa fee?
- Insurance: proof of valid travel or health insurance covering the full stay is required for the eTourist Visa. No minimum cover is published.
- Travel plans: a travel itinerary with arrival and departure dates; a confirmed ticket is not required at application but may be requested. A verifiable travel itinerary works for the upload.
- Accommodation: a confirmed hotel or apartment reservation, or the full address and phone number of family you stay with.
- Photo: a recent colour photo, 3 x 4 cm, white background, taken within the last 6 months.
- Children up to 17 travelling alone or with one parent: a legalised parental authorisation and a copy of the birth certificate.

### Mistakes that waste the fee
- Using an old link. Since 10 August 2026, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs says https://suriname.vfsevisa.com is the only official website for visa applications; the previous page is no longer active.
- Picking the wrong product. Indians need the eTourist Visa, not the Entry Fee or the eTourist Card.
- A short passport. It must be valid for at least 6 months from your departure from Suriname, with at least 2 blank pages.
- Applying at VFS India. VFS Global India handles only Suriname passport services, not visas.
