### How much is each Greenland visa fee?
Greenland is part of the Kingdom of Denmark, and the Danish Immigration Service says the application procedure is the same as for a visa to Denmark. No separate Greenland fee is published, so the Danish short-stay fees listed by VFS Denmark India apply.

### What does VFS Global charge in rupees?
VFS Global runs the Denmark visa application centres that accept Greenland applications, and it publishes its own charges in INR:

- Service fee: INR 2109 (Euro 19) per application, at every centre.
- Courier charge: Euro 4 (INR 444), mandatory if you apply anywhere outside Delhi.
- Payment: all VFS fees can be paid by cash, card or UPI.
The centres are New Delhi, Chandigarh, Kolkata, Hyderabad, Chennai, Bengaluru, Cochin, Mumbai, Pune, Ahmedabad and Jaipur, plus Thimphu in Bhutan. Only New Delhi applicants avoid the courier charge.

### Is the Greenland visa fee refundable?
No. VFS Denmark India lists the visa fee as non-refundable. If your application is refused, the EUR 90 is not returned, so check the whole file before you pay. Two rules are worth confirming first:

- A Schengen visa does not cover Greenland. The Danish Immigration Service says a Danish or other Schengen visa is not valid for entry to Greenland. Your sticker must state that it is valid for Greenland.
- Missing papers have a deadline. Missing documents must reach VFS within 3 business days.
Most travel to Greenland goes through Denmark, so most travellers also need a Schengen visa. One application form covers both, provided you include documentation of your planned stay in Greenland.

### Does a Greenland work permit cost anything?
The Danish Agency for International Recruitment and Integration (SIRI) lists no processing fee for a residence and work permit for Greenland. The Danish mission or application centre where you hand it in may charge additional fees. From India, you submit it through VFS to the Embassy of Denmark in New Delhi, or send it directly to SIRI.

Since 22 August 2025, these permits can be granted for up to two years, matching municipal permits, so yearly extensions are no longer needed. SIRI normally takes 3 months, up to 6 months if more information is needed, and about 1 month under the Health Agreement for healthcare professionals. Work may not start before the permit is granted.

### How much money must your bank statement show?
The visa fee is only one cost. The VFS Denmark tourist checklist asks for your original personal bank statement for the last three months, stamped and signed by the bank, showing:

- DKK 350 per day if you stay in a private home, or
- DKK 500 per day if you stay in a hotel.
You also need Indian income tax return acknowledgements for the last two assessment years, and payslips, an employment contract and a leave letter if you are employed. Self-employed applicants add company registration with a GST number.

### Which documents protect the fee you have paid?
Because the fee is not refunded, the cheapest way to save money is to submit a complete file the first time. The Embassy of Denmark's tourist checklist, used for Greenland visas, lists:

- The application form completed on applyvisa.um.dk, printed and signed, with the fee payment receipt printed from the same site.
- A passport valid for at least three months beyond your stay, with at least two blank pages, plus copies of previous Schengen visas and entry and exit stamps.
- A cover letter stating the purpose, duration, accompanying persons, transport and accommodation.
- A travel agency certificate for an organised trip, or another document showing your travel plans, and proof of accommodation for the whole stay.
- Documentation of your planned stay in Greenland, which the Danish Immigration Service asks for specifically.
- For a sponsored trip: proof of sponsorship, the sponsor's letter and photo ID. For a spouse travelling with you: the marriage certificate. For minors: birth certificate, notarised parental consent and parents' passport copies.

### What else should you budget for?
- Travel insurance, only if you need a Schengen visa too. If the visa is valid only for Greenland, travel medical insurance is not required. A combined Schengen visa needs at least EUR 30,000 of cover from an approved company.
- Photos. One colour photo of 3.5cm / 4.5cm on a plain light background, no more than six months old.
- Flights. The Embassy recommends not buying a ticket before the visa is approved, and the checklist asks for a return flight reservation. A verifiable flight reservation meets that without a non-refundable fare.
Decisions normally come within 15 days of the Embassy receiving the file, up to 30 days if further enquiry is needed and up to 45 days in exceptionally difficult cases.

Yatra For Fun's India office in Gurugram prepares flight reservations, hotel bookings, travel itineraries and cover letters for visa files. Packages go from INR 1,000 for a flight reservation to INR 3,000 for a reservation, hotel, itinerary and cover letter; WhatsApp +91 95230 91018 or contact us.
