## TL;DR

For a Georgia short-term visa, the Embassy of Georgia in New Delhi asks Indians for a signed online application, a passport issued within 10 years, the USD 20 fee receipt, a ticket booking, accommodation proof, proof of funds and travel and health insurance. Indians with a valid visa or residence permit from listed countries such as the USA, UK or Schengen states may not need a visa at all.

## Key takeaways

- Passport must be issued within the last 10 years and valid three months beyond the visa, with two empty pages.
- Proof of funds: a three-month bank statement stamped and signed by the bank, or a sponsor's letter, grant receipt or other proof.
- Insurance must cover the whole stay, all of Georgia, health expenses and death.
- ITR, Form 16 and salary slips are not named on the Embassy checklist.
- Indians with a valid visa or residence permit from listed countries may enter visa-free for 90 days in 180.

**According to the Embassy of Georgia's checklist for India, you need the signed online application from geoconsul.gov.ge, a passport issued within 10 years and valid three months beyond the visa, the USD 20 visa-fee receipt, a ticket booking, proof of accommodation, a three-month bank statement or other proof of funds, and travel and health insurance.**

## Article

That list applies to the short-term (ordinary) visa lodged through VFS Global for the Embassy of Georgia in New Delhi, and most of it is checked again at the border if you use the e-Visa. Everything below is as published on the official sources, checked on 15 October 2026. Fees, centres and timelines are collected on our Georgia visa guide for Indians.

### Do you need a Georgia visa at all?
Check this before you collect a single document. Under Government of Georgia Ordinance No. 256, Indians holding a valid visa or residence permit from a listed country may enter visa-free for 90 days in any 180-day period, provided the document is valid when they cross the border. The issuing countries named on the MFA consular portal include the USA, the UK, EU and Schengen states, Canada, Australia, Japan, the Republic of Korea, Israel, New Zealand and the GCC states. Confirm your issuing country on geoconsul.gov.ge.

Everyone else needs an ordinary visa before travel: either an e-Visa from evisa.gov.ge or a sticker visa through the Embassy and VFS. There is no visa on arrival for Indians.

Originals are carried for verification only.

### Does Georgia ask for ITR, Form 16 or salary slips?
Not by name. Unlike most Schengen checklists, the Embassy of Georgia's list does not mention income tax returns, Form 16 or salary slips. It asks for proof of financial funds for the journey and the stay, and gives examples: a bank statement for the last three months, a grant or study-financing receipt, a sponsor's letter, or any other document confirming available funds.

Because the bank statement is the first example the Embassy gives, use the original version stamped and signed by the bank, make sure it covers three full months, and check that the balance fits the length of your trip. If a parent or relative is paying, their letter is the sponsor's letter the checklist refers to.

### What extra documents do minors, invited guests and representatives need?
- Minors: consent of the legal representative or representatives with the birth certificate. Affidavits or consent letters, birth and marriage certificates must be notary attested and apostilled by the MEA, with the apostille issued within 6 months. A legal guardian signs the application form.
- Invited visitors: a duly notarised letter of invitation from the person in Georgia. An invitation can also serve as accommodation proof if it confirms where you will stay.
- Sponsored travellers: the sponsor's letter as proof of funds, with any document confirming the sponsor's means.
- Third-party submission: an authorisation for the person handing in the application.

### Is the document list different for the e-Visa?
The e-Visa is applied for online at evisa.gov.ge for USD 20 plus a 2% service fee, paid by Visa or MasterCard within 5 hours of notification. It takes not less than 5 working days, and the fee is not refunded if the e-Visa is denied. Print it and carry these documents for the border:

- Your passport.
- A document proving the purpose of travel.
- Travel and health insurance.
- Proof of sufficient funds, such as a bank statement for the past three months, an employer reference or a sponsor letter.
- Proof of accommodation for the entire stay.
The e-Visa photo must be taken within 6 months, directly facing the camera.

### Photo, copies and uploads: the format rules
The digital photo must be 472 x 610 pixels; a scanned photo must be 4 x 5.16 cm at 300 DPI, and it must meet ICAO standards. If you do not have one, the photograph can be clicked at VFS.

After you pay at VFS, upload the scanned VFS payment receipt to geoconsul.gov.ge. The VFS service fee is INR 1,500 per application, including GST and a convenience fee of INR 150; satellite locations add a mandatory courier charge of INR 846, which does not apply at VFS New Delhi. Appointments are booked online at one of 14 centres: Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Chandigarh, Chennai, Cochin, Goa, Hyderabad, Jaipur, Jalandhar, Kolkata, Mumbai, New Delhi, Puducherry and Pune.

### Before you submit: five final checks
- Your passport's date of issue is within the last 10 years, not just its expiry date.
- The online form is in BLOCK letters and signed.
- The insurance policy names Georgia, covers your full stay and includes death cover.
- The bank statement carries the bank's stamp and signature.
- The VFS receipt has been uploaded to geoconsul.gov.ge.
