## Article

This walkthrough follows the Embassy of the Czech Republic in New Delhi and VFS Global, as published on the official sources, checked on 15 October 2026. It covers short-stay Schengen visas (up to 90 days) booked through VFS, and then the Embassy's separate system for long-term visas.

### Which channel do you book through?
The route depends on the length and purpose of the stay:

- Short-term Schengen visa (tourism, business, visiting family or friends, cultural events): book with VFS. Applicants legally residing in India can apply at any VFS centre: Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Bhubaneswar, Chandigarh, Chennai, Cochin, Delhi, Goa, Hyderabad, Jaipur, Jalandhar, Kolkata, Lucknow, Mumbai or Pune.
- Family members of EU citizens: may lodge a Schengen application directly at the Embassy, by appointment requested via newdelhi.consulate@mzv.gov.cz.
- Long-term visas, residence permits and employee cards (over 90 days): submitted personally at the Embassy, booked through its own e-mail system, explained further down.
The Embassy has jurisdiction for all of India, so whichever VFS city you choose, your file goes to the same Consular Section in New Delhi.

### When are Czech appointment slots released?
VFS releases new slots every second Monday of a month, for appointments in the upcoming month. Pair that with the submission window: no earlier than six months and no later than 15 days before the trip, with the Embassy strongly recommending at least 3 weeks before departure.

Processing is normally up to 15 calendar days after the file reaches the Embassy, not from your VFS visit, and can be extended to 45 calendar days in individual cases. Files from centres other than Delhi are forwarded within 2 working days. Booking on the first release day after you have your documents gives you the most room.

### How do you book the VFS slot, step by step?
- Confirm your visa type and travel dates, and check that they fall inside the six-month to 15-day window.
- Fill in the Schengen application form. A new harmonised form came into effect on 14 January 2026; the Embassy publishes it, and you can fill it online before your appointment.
- Register on the VFS Czech Republic India website and choose the centre that suits you.
- On the release day, select a date and time from the newly opened slots.
- Pay the INR 2,180 service charge to confirm the booking. It includes 9% SGST and 9% CGST and is not refunded.
- Prepare the documents on the Czech checklist (updated 21.07.2025) and the EU harmonised list for India.
- Attend in person on the day, pay the visa fee and give your biometrics.

### How do long-term visa appointments at the Embassy work?
Long-term applications are not booked with VFS. The Embassy uses e-mail registration, with annual caps for Indian applicants in 2026:

PurposeHow to request a date2026 capStudyE-mail to newdelhi.visa@mzv.gov.cz only on announced dates (10 June, 1 July, 5 August, 2 September, and 7 October for October to December), subject line = passport number, with PDF scans of the passport data page and admission confirmation; random allocation, reply within 7 days if a date is assigned1,200 applicationsSeasonal employmentE-mail to newdelhi.seasonal@mzv.gov.cz on 4 June, 6 August or 7 October, with passport scan and Labour Office permission; random allocation120 applicationsEU Blue Card, intra-company transfer, other purposesE-mail to newdelhi.longterm@mzv.gov.cz, handled in order of receiptBlue Card 250-300; transfer cards 200-250Employee cardOnly within an Economic Migration Program; individuals cannot request a date1,560 employee cards (from 1 July 2025)
### What if you cannot find a slot?
- Try another city. Any VFS centre in India accepts Czech short-stay applications, and Lucknow and Bhubaneswar opened on 1 August 2026.
- Start earlier. You may apply up to six months ahead, so booking from the next release day is better than waiting until close to the 15-day cut-off.
- Book only through the official VFS site, and do not pay anyone for a 'guaranteed' slot.
- For questions, the Embassy's visa infoline is +91 11 2415 5265 on working days from 14:00 to 15:00.

### What should you carry on appointment day?
Bring the signed form, a passport issued within the last 10 years with two empty pages and valid three months beyond your return, two recent photos on a white background, three months of stamped bank statements, ITR acknowledgements for two assessment years, three months of pay slips and holiday approval from your employer, and travel medical insurance of at least EUR 30,000. The Delhi centre moved to 27 K.G. Marg, Connaught Place, on 19 January 2026. For context, European Commission data show 20.1% of Schengen applications at Czech consulates in India were not issued in 2025 (5,501 of 27,388). The checklist also asks for proof of transport and lodging. Yatra For Fun's India office in Gurugram prepares flight reservations, hotel bookings, itineraries and cover letters, from INR 1,000 (flight reservation) to INR 3,000 (reservation, hotel, itinerary and cover letter).
