Requirements, fees and timelines below are as published on the official sources, checked on 2026-10-15: the Embassy of the Czech Republic in New Delhi, its checklist (updated 21.07.2025) linked from VFS Global, and the European Commission. Our Czech Republic visa page covers the other visa categories.

### Who can apply in India, and where?
Anyone legally residing in India can apply at any VFS Global visa application centre. All applications are assessed and decided by the Consular Section of the Embassy in New Delhi, whose jurisdiction covers all of India. The 15 centres are Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Bhubaneswar, Chandigarh, Chennai, Cochin, Delhi, Goa, Hyderabad, Jaipur, Jalandhar, Kolkata, Lucknow, Mumbai and Pune.

Two recent changes matter here. The Delhi centre moved to 27 K.G. Marg, Connaught Place, on 19 January 2026, and VFS opened the Lucknow and Bhubaneswar centres on 1 August 2026. Family members of EU citizens are the exception to the VFS rule: they may lodge their Schengen application directly at the Embassy, by appointment booked through newdelhi.consulate@mzv.gov.cz.

### What are the Czech tourist visa requirements?
The checklist is long, but each item has a clear purpose.

- Application form, completely filled and signed. A new harmonised Schengen form came into effect on 14 January 2026; download the current one from the Embassy's forms page.
- Passport issued within the last 10 years, valid three months beyond your return, with two empty pages; copies of the biodata page, the last page and earlier Schengen stamps.
- Two photos, not older than six months, on a white background, face covering at least 80% of the frame.
- Cover letter signed by you, giving purpose, duration, the names and passport numbers of companions, and transport and accommodation details.
- Travel plans: proof of means of transport and itinerary, lodging for every Schengen state you visit, and for tourism a travel agency certificate or other document showing your plans.
- Insurance valid in all Schengen countries, at least 30,000 EUR, covering the whole trip including arrival and departure dates.
- Finances: original bank statements for the last three months, stamped and signed (yours and your sponsor's), and ITR acknowledgments for the last two assessment years.
- Occupation: employees give three months of pay slips, the employment contract and the employer's holiday approval; business owners give company registration, GST registration, business bank statements and a barcode-verifiable ITR; retired applicants give three months of pension statements; students give proof of enrolment and an ID copy.
- Family status: a marriage certificate if your passport does not show marital status, and a ration card copy if applicable.
The Embassy does not publish a minimum daily amount for tourists. The checklist relies on your statements and tax returns instead, so they should show steady income that comfortably covers the trip.

### How much does a Czech tourist visa cost?

The Embassy updates its INR fees every month in line with the exchange rate.

### How long does it take, and when do slots open?
New appointment slots are released every second Monday of a month, for appointments in the following month. Submit no earlier than six months and no later than 15 days before the trip; the Embassy strongly recommends at least 3 weeks.

Files lodged outside Delhi are forwarded to the Embassy within 2 working days. The Embassy normally decides within 15 calendar days after the file reaches it, not from the day you submit at VFS, and can extend this up to 45 calendar days in individual cases.

### Can you get a multiple-entry Czech visa?
Yes. Under Commission Implementing Decision C(2024) 2434 of 18 April 2024, an Indian national living in India who has obtained and lawfully used two visas within the previous three years qualifies for a multiple-entry visa valid for two years, ending three months before passport expiry if the passport runs out sooner. Consulates can still shorten validity in individual cases or issue up to five years in justified cases. Every stay remains limited to 90 days in any 180-day period.

### What happens at the border, and what if you are refused?
The EU Entry/Exit System became fully operational on 10 April 2026. Instead of a passport stamp, you give passport data, a facial image and fingerprints at the external border on your first entry or exit.

European Commission data show that 20.1% of Schengen applications lodged at Czech consulates in India were not issued in 2025 (5,501 of 27,388), compared with 21.5% in 2024. That rate covers all applications, not your individual chances. After a refusal, you can request a review of the reasons for a fee of 80 EURO.
